As a Part-Time Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) at Bayshore Animal Hospital, you will play a critical role in supporting our veterinarians and providing excellent care to our patients. Key Responsibilities
Patient Care:
- Conduct thorough physical exams and assist with medical procedures as directed by veterinarians.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately and as prescribed.
- Monitor and manage patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Diagnostic and Laboratory Procedures:
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and cytology.
- Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment, including radiography and ultrasound machines.
- Prepare samples for laboratory submission and analyze results.
Surgical Assistance:
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures, including preparation, sterile draping, and patient monitoring.
- Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of surgical instruments.
Client Communication:
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pets’ health, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Provide guidance on home care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
Hospital Duties:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work environment.
- Ensure accurate and thorough medical records and documentation.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies as needed.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise to be Successful
Education and Certification:
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Veterinary Technology from an accredited institution.
- Valid Veterinary Technician license (LVT/RVT/CVT) in the state of Florida.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a veterinary technician in a clinical setting.
- Experience with general surgery and anesthesia is preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in performing veterinary procedures and diagnostic tests.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medical and surgical protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
