GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Responsible for performing crew duties on CH-47 aircraft, ensuring safe and efficient operations during flight. Conducts pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight inspections, monitoring aircraft systems, and supporting maintenance test flight and ferry flight operations.
DUTIES
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on CH-47 aircraft when not performing flight engineer duties.
- Perform troubleshooting and repairs on all aircraft systems.
- Perform routine inspections and pre-flight/post-flight inspections in support of flight operations.
- Maintain records and maintenance actions in accordance with service guidance.
- Maintain crewmember flight records.
- Use specialized tools and diagnostic equipment in support of maintenance operations.
- Must qualify and maintain currency in aircraft auxiliary power units (APUs).
- Meet all requirements, as a non-rated crewmember IAW with service guidance for specific design, type, series aircraft which duties are to be performed.
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of a military aircraft repairer school for CH-47 aircraft.
- Service qualified flight crewmember with a minimum of 150 flight hours.
- FAA A&P license is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in Army aviation maintenance.
- Must pass a contractor or military evaluation initially and annually thereafter.
- Must hold a valid, current FAA Class III Medical Certificate.
- Must meet minimum flight hour requirements for flight engineer as specified in DCMA INST 8210-1D.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.

- Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, working at heights with fall protection devices.
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances.
- May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
- Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
- Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
- Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
- May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.
