CH PS NA Myerstown Tech Ops Lead
This role leads all Technical Operations activities, reliability and process engineering, operations compliance, MES electronic batch records (recipes) development, and validation lifecycle management of products, equipment and processes for the CH PS NA Myerstown site. The person in this role will collaborate closely with the Operational Excellence, CoE solid dose hub, Engineering, Facilities and SSHE, Manufacturing IT, and Quality functions teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement and value creation which requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership capabilities, and a focus on driving innovation, cost efficiency, and digitalization while providing strong leadership and coaching and development for high performing teams with a culture based on the Bayer DSO principles.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
Team Leadership:
- Act as VACC (Visionary, Architect, Coach and Catalyst) to build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of professionals, promoting a collaborative and innovative work environment. Establish target outcomes, priorities and coordinate talent flow to maximize organizational impact. The incumbent demonstrates, credibly embodies and showcases VACC leadership;
People Development:
- Shape employee development, evaluation, compensation and career path based on skills; build a diverse, inclusive talent pool where members share and support each other to build their expertise; recruit, hire, and onboard new employees, based on team requirements;
- Foster culture of transparency of priorities and metrics empowering every team and employee to take accountability to operate as high performing teams. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment where employees feel valued and engaged;
- Lead, mentor, and coach the teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvements, learning and acceleration of PSS initiatives including being proactive in providing development experience to talents;
- Identify upskilling training needs and develop or source training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the team. Develop and maintain high performing teams with higher level of self-organization and proactive culture that accentuates continuous improvement principles.
Product Validation Lifecycle Management:
- Develop and maintain the programs and processes for continuous process monitoring, validation of raw materials, cleaning validation, validation and qualification of manufacturing / packaging / warehouse processes and critical systems;
- Ensure the operative continuity of the OTC and Nutritionals Operations assets by maintaining qualified / validated status of critical systems, equipment, processes and facilities in collaboration with CoE Hub, Engineering, and Quality including a documentation system (process qualifications, protocols, summary reports) which complies with regulatory requirements and business group standards;
- Oversee the validation and qualification activities including related protocols, technical reports and documentation associated with Nutritional and OTC production processes, equipment and facilities.
New Technologies, Digitalization and Cost Improvement:
- Drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within manufacturing facilities. Drive PSS and Factory of Future (digitalization) initiatives within operations to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and increase production capacity while maintaining product quality and safety standards;
- Work closely with Manufacturing IT, to ensure seamless integration of digital solutions across the core operations. Drive the real-time data-based decision in day-to-day operations by utilizing data analytics and AI (Artificial Intelligence) to extract insights for systems performance and enable proactive decision-making'
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations and integrate new technologies;
- Participate in and provide leadership for cost savings and key strategic initiatives for new technologies across manufacturing, packaging, and warehouse operations at the Myerstown site.
Reliability & Process Engineering, MES (Electronic Batch Records), and Process Optimization:
- Lead the development and execution of the robust and reliable asset life cycle management programs closely align with operational excellence, efficiencies and continuous improvement strategies for production equipment, facilities, and systems;
- Implement reliability engineering practices to improve equipment uptime and reduce maintenance costs. Establish the programs to conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations;
- Lead initiatives to enhance the reliability of manufacturing systems and processes;
- Provide technical support and guidance on engineering challenges and process improvements. Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues;
- Cross-Functional collaboration with Production and Facility Maintenance and ensure the assessment of critical spare parts and availability to minimize the unplanned downtime;
- Drive the capability building for MES recipes development and post-deployment recipe changes for manufacturing and packaging processes;
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, GMP standards, and industry best practices across Nutritionals, OTC and Warehouse operational processes and facilities;
- Oversee the implementation and management of electronic batch records systems. Lead efforts to optimize and maintain electronic batch record processes and ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of electronic records;
- Drive the continuous improvement mindset and root cause investigations for process and equipment deviations targeting robust corrective actions preventive actions (CAPA) and reduction in write-offs. Oversee the development and implementation of compliance strategies and procedures;
- Conduct regular internal audits to maintain compliance and address any discrepancies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineering, core operations, quality, controlling, manufacturing IT, CoE Hubs, HR, and other departments to ensure seamless collaboration across all functions.

WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree with multi-functional experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management, and Operational Excellence/LEAN.
- Demonstrated VACC skills leading teams and multi-functional team collaboration.
- Multifunctional and deep experience of complex supply chain and manufacturing management in the consumer and/or pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in successful organizational transformation and change management initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
- Exceptional people leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years of multi-function experience is preferred (Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain)
