Position Summary:
Responsible for managing daily inpatient/outpatient operations. Charged with the goal of continuous quality improvement, and must provide leadership and supervision to staff. This individual is also responsible for administrative duties assigned by the Pharmacy Director to assist in the overall success of the Pharmacy Department. With responsibility for the assigned operational and clinical supervision of the department, this leader facilitates the development and delivery of excellence in service practice by evaluating and coordinating the services delivered. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to supervise the services appropriate for the patient/family/population being served and integrates the department’s services with the hospital’s primary functions. Provides information, reports and audits as requested to Director of Pharmacy.
Position Qualifications:
- Degree in Pharmacy (i.e., B.S. or Pharm. D.) from a school or college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) is required.
- Minimum of three years pharmacy work experience with demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in multiple areas of pharmacy (ie, outpatient, clinic, inpatient) preferred.

Licensure in the State of Alaska is required.

Be certified, or eligible to be certified, in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).

Proficiency with MS-Excel, Word, Pyxis, PickPoint, ScriptPro, Cerner Millennium applications, Cerner Retail Pharmacy (Etreby), and KRONOS iSeries Timekeeping systems.

Ability to type 40 wpm, operate 10-key calculator and other standard office equipment.

Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write detailed correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees. Must have excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills

Ability to solve practical problems and manage a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardized exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats. Ability to make decisions in a timely manner on limited but adequate information.

Must be able to complete a variety of tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload, and meet reporting and completion deadlines with attention to detail. Demonstrated strength in process and procedure.

This position requires an extremely perceptive person, who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels. Must have excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills. As unique situations present themselves, the incumbent must be sensitive to Corporate needs, employee goodwill, and the public image. Ability to influence, solve problems and successfully collaborate and communicate with all levels of management and internal/external YKHC customers.
