Job Summary
Battelle’s Advanced Materials and Energetics Group is seeking to hire a Chemical Engineer . Work will be varied however the selected candidate will be expected to perform advanced research and analysis, contribute to Internal Research & Development projects, support business development, and communicate with internal and external clients. This position is located in Columbus, OH .
Responsibilities
+ Performs complex assignments by compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications.
+ Analyzes and interprets data collected.
+ Prepares technical reports and makes presentations to client, both formal and informal.
+ Conducts and/or leads small technical projects or phases of technical projects.
+ May provide technical direction to and coordinate the efforts of engineers and technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects within time and budget constraints.
+ Assists with proposal efforts. May prepare technical sections of proposals with review.
+ Builds relationships with internal and external clients and presents research results.
+ Communicates with clients on smaller projects regarding the schedule and quality of deliverables.
+ Contributes to IR&D studies.
+ Prepares invention disclosures and may provide inputs for new areas of business.
+ Supports business development efforts led by others and secures follow-on work.
+ May assist with the coordination of and participation in Battelle-sponsored conferences.
+ May participate in scientific conferences, peer review panels, and increases company visibility through publications.
+ Oversees, mentors and trains lower-level staff.
Key Qualifications
+ B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience, M.S. in related field with 3 years of experience, or PhD.
+ U.S. Citizenship is required.
+ Candidates may be requested to submit to a background check for obtaining clearances for classified government projects.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to represent Battelle or its clients at conferences or public forums.
+ Good laboratory and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
+ PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field.
+ Experience in engineering model development.
+ Experience using computer programming to analyze complex data sets (ex: Python, Matlab).
