Swenson Technology, Inc. is an industry recognized leader in process equipment used in the chemical, pharmaceutical and waste reduction industries to convert liquid solutions into dry solids. The Chemical Engineering Intern, under direct supervision of the VP Technology, is responsible for supporting test center activities in process development, process improvements, operations and maintenance. This is an opportunity to gain experience in a hands on, fast paced environment for college students preparing for a career in Chemical Engineering.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide support for pilot plant operations and laboratory experiments to test and verify equipment operating parameters.
- Assist with process validation tests in the lab or in the pilot plant by developing a test method, preparing equipment, recording data and reporting results.
- Assist in maintenance of existing equipment and development of new equipment.
- Work in a safe manner at all times in both the pilot plant and the laboratory.
Job Qualifications:
- Pursuit of Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from an accredited program with at least two years of post secondary education.
- Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
Physical Requirements:
- Walking, stooping, lifting, and ability to climb multiple flights of stairs
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work flexible/varied hours
This position is located in our Harvey, IL Test Center. This is a paid internship from June 2025 to August 2025, but does not include housing / transportation. Applicants should reside in the Chicagoland / Northwest Indiana vicinity or be able to find their own temporary housing in the area.
