USALCO is a leading provider of aluminum-based component products used in water treatment, pulp and paper manufacturing, the making of catalysts for oil refining, the housing market and other sectors. The Chemical Operator reports to the Plant Manager or Production Supervisor, depending on shift allocation. The position requires a detail-oriented, self-starter who: - incorporates safety and quality into every decision while performing day-to-day tasks, - can efficiently operate and maintain chemical processes and equipment to meet manufacturing specifications and achieve maximum productivity without compromising safety or quality, - will actively seek out opportunities for process improvement and take full responsibility for collaborating with management and peers to implement approved changes in a timely manner. The holder of this plant position must be a positive-natured, task-oriented individual with chemical manufacturing experience, significant mechanical aptitude, and a high level of computer literacy. This person must be personally and professionally motivated to work constructively with team members at all levels within the company, to execute job responsibilities with a sense of urgency and to support plant and business initiatives, as well as consistently strive to increase the safety, the quality, and the productivity of the site. The Chemical Operator will be assigned responsibilities in all areas of plant operations, including product manufacturing, equipment maintenance, analytical testing, bulk loading and unloading, and utilization of the company computer systems.
Essential Functions:
- Operating chemical processes and equipment to safely manufacture quality products.
- Apply all plant safety rules, work guidelines / practices, and procedures.
- Recommending and being actively involved in implementing improvements and adjustments to processes, equipment, and procedures.
- Updating and maintaining daily QC data and process samples.
- Utilizing computers for quality control, inventory control, transportation documents, and other processing purposes.
- Providing physical labor where needed.
- Working changing shifts as needed.
Other Responsibilities:
- Keeping all process areas, the laboratory and equipment clean and operational.
- Unloading railcars, loading tanker trucks and making preparations for shipment.
- Operating heavy equipment
- Maintaining laboratory equipment according to procedure and inventory as required.
- Providing production support to all departments as needed.
- Developing and applying improvements in processes, equipment and procedures.
- Performing additional responsibilities and tasks as directed by management.
Requirements:
- A High School Diploma.
- Significant mechanical and experience and aptitude.
- Preferred 3-5 years Chemical manufacturing experience.
- Basic college coursework in subjects such as math, chemistry, and statistics.
- The right individual has a can-do attitude, the ability to be part of a team while operating independently, and consistently performs to very high standards.
