About the Job
In This Role, You Will:
- Champion all maintenance efforts, lead the maintenance team and oversee maintenance planner functions while consistently protecting the environment, health, safety, and security of employees, contractors, and visitors onsite.
- Develop the knowledge, skills and abilities of the maintenance technicians to ensure the integrity of maintenance work performed meets expectations.
- Assess maintenance work assignments for the installation and repair of both electrical and mechanical maintenance work and related functions.
- Ensure the after-hours maintenance on call system and processes provide effective and adequate support for the site.
- Work closely with all levels of management to monitor employees, make recommendations to elevate the quality of maintenance work performed, and continuously promote safety throughout the organization.
- Provide oversight of maintenance planning activities for mechanical maintenance, electrical engineering and control systems maintenance.
- Responsible for the overall mechanical reliability of the chemical plant, including fixed and rotating equipment, buildings, and the grounds.
- Identify, reduce, and eliminate production losses and excessive maintenance costs to promote plant objectives related to safety, asset capability, quality and production goals.
- Develop maintenance best practices to successfully implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs that promote uninterrupted 24/7 continuous service, mitigates risk for the organization as well as resolves complex maintenance issues.
- Maintain maintenance performance KPI’s for the asset, track reliability and causes for deviation, meet reliability targets, and make measurable improvements while consistently exceeding maintenance department goals.
- Conduct root cause and failure analysis (RCFA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to mitigate risk and ensure safety.
- Work in tandem with the operations team to effectively oversee and evaluate the budget, pricing for labor, and associated costs for replacement parts.
- Manage communication with third party vendors and contractors, define and clarify the scope of maintenance work required, obtain quotes for materials and parts as needed.
- Champion mechanical integrity and quality assurance programs for the plant.
- Comply with all environmental, health, safety and security related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).
- Diligently adhere to and fulfill all Responsible Care® requirements, demonstrate a steadfast commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical practices in all aspects of your position within the organization.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage a team of maintenance employees with different skill sets and varied levels of chemical plant maintenance expertise.
- Thorough understanding of OSHA and EPA regulations related to PSM plant operations and the maintenance related services required to operate the asset 24/7.
- Ability to operate both systems and equipment used onsite at chemical manufacturing plant; perform and analyze various system checks.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Teams.
- Ability to read and interpret technical and electrical drawings, schematics, equipment drawings, and safety procedures, including federal and state OSHA guidelines.
- Ability to demonstrate and enforce safety best practices for hand tools and power tools commonly used in maintenance work.
- Must have a strong understanding of the properties, behaviors, and hazards of equipment used at a chemical manufacturing plant.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to work independently, along with the confidence to lead and direct teams.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Five years of chemical plant maintenance experience in a supervisory or leadership role that combined technical, managerial, and financial expertise in a chemical plant environment.
- Must have expertise developing maintenance plans, scheduling and coordinating preventative maintenance, equipment installation and repair work.
- I&E and mechanical maintenance expertise in a Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated facilities.
