General Description
Chemist to perform laboratory analyses of wastewater samples in accordance with EPA approved methodology. Must conform to approved methodology, control principles and lab safety.
Essential Functions and Duties
- Analytical testing of wastewater samples from both residential and industry customers.
- Completion and review of analytical data sheets.
- Peer review of co-workers' data sheets.
- Data entry into appropriate logs.
- Troubleshooting data anomalies.
- Compiles and provides complete, accurate and timely reports of test data and analysis.
- Performs Quality Assurance testing as required to assist with processing and compliance requirements.
- Maintains laboratory chemicals, supplies and materials required to complete projects.
- Maintains and calibrates laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Recognizes priority conflicts of testing; prioritize and communicate test schedules to supervisors/manager.
- Performs multiple tests at a time.
- Facilitate sample flow between work area and other areas in the department.
- Communicates issues to appropriate personnel.
- Maintains clean, orderly and safe working environment
- Other duties as assigned by management
Minimum Requirements
- Proven ability to produce accurate and precise analytical results required.
- BS in a natural or physical science
- Experience with wastewater testing methods and/or instrumentation techniques preferred, including, but not limited to pH testing, wet chemical methods, spectroscopy.
- Experience with USEPA testing methods is desired.
- Requires intermediate skills with Excel.
- Preferred intermediate skills with LIMS-type system.
- Must meet the physical requirements including, but not limited to lifting, walking, standing, and sitting.

- Trouble shoot, diagnose, and solve problems related to instrumentation and methods;
- Good verbal, written or other communications skills;
- Good computer skills;
