As a Chief Dietitian Nutritionist, you will carry out our Mission of Love by ensuring the care of our resident is provided in a safe, caring, timely, and appropriate manner by maintaining the applicable competencies and skills through continuing education that encompasses pertinent areas. This will include assisting our residents in reaching or attaining their highest potential in physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. They will plan, oversee, and deliver comprehensive nutritional care of residents in accordance with the physicians' diagnosis and requirements of regulatory agencies. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary heath care team to develop strategies for effectiveness and continuity of services offered to residents. They will be responsible for coordinating assignments with a small group of professionals.
Our Chief Dietitian Nutritionist is responsible for the following:
- Assuming the Nutrition Services Manager position and responsibilities in the absence of the Nutrition Services Manager.
- Assisting the Nutrition Services Manager in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, and standards of care to meet the needs of the residents and the requirements established by regulatory agencies. These regulations include federal, state, and local requirements as well as HACCP requirements.
- Assisting the Nutrition Services Manager in the implementation and coordination of the Food Services Quality Improvement Program as directed. Overseeing indicators for monitoring the quality and appropriateness of resident care under Nutrition Services' scope.
- Leading the Nutrition team in performance of Medical Nutrition Therapy. This includes up to date comprehensive clinical assessment of residents related to diagnosis and disease conditions, geriatric needs, interpretation of pertinent laboratory values, food-drug interactions. Assessing and planning therapy for residents at high nutritional risk (i.e. severe pressure ulcers, weight loss, tube fed, clinically complex).
- Performing and giving guidance to nutrition team regarding consultation with and providing recommendation to medical, nursing, and ancillary staff on appropriate nutritional interventions to improve resident nutritional status or prevent deterioration of health. Maintains HIPAA compliance.
- Participating in and guiding nutrition team in regularly scheduled Interdisciplinary Care Plan Conferences and adjunct committee meetings to provide insight for resident's holistic wellbeing with specific focus on nutritional status.
- Coordinating the in-service education of the Food Services Department staff. Managing and maintaining records of in-services and educational programs provided as directed. Developing and implementing person-centered education programs related to food and nutrition for all facility staff.
- Assisting in the training of Food Services Supervisors as directed by the Nutrition Services Manager. Particularly, providing education in general nutrition and medical nutrition therapy as it relates to resident care.
- Is a role model and supports actions in staff that promote excellent dining experience for residents in their neighborhood and/or with specific needs.
- Demonstrating timely information management skills. This includes updates to Resident Assessment Instrument and use of clinical software, as well as providing resident care-oriented and menu planning/analysis functions in Food Services computer system.
What You Have:
- Registered Dietitian status with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist with the state of Pennsylvania.
- Minimum five years of experience as a Clinical Dietitian in long term care with both management and clinical experience required.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient ability to use computer for data entry and word processing-type functions.
