Herzog Transit Services, Inc. is currently seeking a Chief Dispatcher in Irving, TX to join our team.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Ensure safety is not compromised with the direct oversight and supervision of Train Dispatchers and Control Center Assistants as well as providing indirect supervision of all train crews, Maintenance of Way, signal employees, and flaggers working on, or near the railroad tracks.
- Train and ensure all Train Dispatchers are fully qualified in their duties and that they perform in a safe and effective manner adhering to all safety rules, company policies and procedures. Respond to concerns, take appropriate action, and conduct investigations when necessary.
- Active listener – gives full attention to what others are saying, takes time to understand the points being made and asks relative and appropriate questions.
- Attentive to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain composure and demonstrate leadership and teamwork during stressful situations.
- Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with internal and external customers.
- Be engaged, monitor, and supervise all train movement and conditions affecting movements, such as weather conditions, train crew availability, and equipment availability. Use logic and reason to identify approaches, problem solve, and determine disciplined responses to unplanned events and emergency situations and manages these instances to maximize safety, minimize passenger inconvenience, and limit delays to affected trains.
- Maintain on-time performance (OTP), & internal and external reporting requirements.
- Ensure effective communication with the designated personnel during service disruptions or unusual events.
- Confirm delay notifications are accurate and timely.
- Must be willing to work varied shift hours, varied days off, holidays, and extended hours as may be needed to respond to operational circumstances as required.
- Provide manpower planning for Dispatcher Center personnel & cover shifts according to manpower levels.
- Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Must have experience as a Chief Dispatcher or Train Dispatcher.
- Experience and knowledge of railroad operations, dispatching and transportation operations and experience integrating construction/maintenance activities with revenue service.
- Knowledge of GCOR, FRA regulations, and must be able to qualify on territory within 3 months.
- Demonstrate experience and ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, with both internal and external organizations.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
- Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

- Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
