The Chief Engineer is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining hotel mechanical systems and equipment, communicating with staff members about any issues or repair needs, leading the engineering team of maintenance technicians, and ensuring the safety of hotel guests and staff.
Participates in the preventive maintenance program of all-building equipment and rooms. Supervises, trains, and inspects the performance of engineering staff ensuring that all procedures are completed to the hotel's standards. Work closely with Facilities Director in scheduling work and setting priorities. Also, makes decisions in the absence of the Facilities Director and acts as the backup for calls when there are emergencies.
Job Description:
- Manages all work order tickets -assigns and tracks tickets making sure they are completed in a timely manner.
- Manages and updates the hotel’s CMMS work order system (HotSOS)
- Works closely with Facilities Admin Assistant to coordinate parts, room access and work order completion.
- Manages small to medium projects as assigned by Facility Director
- Manages the weekly work schedule, labor allocations and employee PTO requests
- Responsible for equipping, motivating and supporting subordinate staff to ensure quality service.
- Counsels, coaches, disciplines, and documents performance of staff.
- Conducts all training and peformance reviews of supervised staff.
- Organizes and participates in meetings and maintains records and data pertaining to property operations.
- Manages key system and locksmith functions for the property.
- Estimates and coordinates material and manpower for projects carried on in-house.
- Works with outside vendors when necessary and coordinates on site visits.
- Develops and updates all emergency and safety documentation, SOPs and equipment binders.
- Attends daily stand ups and weekly operations meetings.
- Assists Facility Director with capital expense planning, operational budget and infrastructure improvements as needed.
Compensation:
$31.50-$34.00 Hourly

Schedule: Full Time
This is a 24-7, 365 day a year business that will require some work during nights, weekends and holidays. Must have a flexible schedule that can move between shifts and days as needed.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years leading a team in an institutional maintenance setting (Hotel, School, Hospital)
- Experience in building maintenance, electrical work, plumbing, refrigeration, and carpentry skills.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, plumbing, and wiring schematics.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to keep track of multiple projects simultaneously
Requires basic knowledge mechanical and electrical systems, Fire life safety systems and physical plant operation.
Proven experience leading teams, preparing budgets, managing teams and projects.
Confidence using computers, phones, CMMS and building management applications.
Solid experience in MS Office applications (Excel, Word) creating and using spreadsheets
Ability to leverage computer systems and mobile apps to manage projects
- Holds or has the ability to obtain a Valid Driver’s License
- Holds or has the ability to obtain a First Aid, CPR & AED Certification
- Holds or has the ability to obtain a Pool Operator Certification
- This position requires a minimum formal education of a high school diploma.
