About the Job
Our Client is seeking a Chief Estimator. This person directs and supervises all individuals, activities related to estimating heavy civil and sitework projects. This includes conceptual estimates, design (associated with Design-Build projects), constructability reviews, value engineering, hard bid estimates, proposal efforts, and other deliverables from the bidding team.

- Bachelor of Science degree in construction management, engineering, or other related degree.
- Minimum 10 years’ applicable estimating, construction project management experience working for an ENR 400 (minimum $200 million volume annually) multi-disciplined heavy civil or industrial EPC contractor.
- Minimum 5 years with existing employer.
- This individual must have had at least one of the previous titles;
- project director (projects over 50 million annually, and 150 million aggregate)
- proposal manager (40+ million contracts)
- senior estimator (100+ million annual in awarded work)
- Software skills in HCSS Heavy bid or other estimating software, Grade Beam, Primavera P6, and On-Screen Takeoff, BIM/Autodesk programs.
- Extensive knowledge of construction costs, historical production rates, and manhour factors.
- Strong attention to detail, organization skills, controlled sense of urgency, and the ability to manage multiple people, competing priorities.
- Must be confident leading estimating teams of varying sizes, and be capable of leading hard bid, negotiated and conceptual projects.
- Must possess strong communication/interpersonal skills and be confident in his/her ability to develop and manage the entire preconstruction process; must have effective presentation skills.
- Strong leadership/coaching skills and the ability to influence others to ensure high performing teams.
- Recruit and develop employees: In conjunction with senior and junior estimators, conduct annual performance reviews, including goal setting and development plans, for all estimators. Implement training and development programs to improve the preconstruction process and individual development of all direct reports and other personnel involved in preconstruction efforts. In conjunction with HR, lead the recruiting efforts associated with estimating department resources.
