Overview:The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for providing overall leadership for our two critical access hospital affiliate organizations both nestled in the northwest corner of Kansas. Goodland Regional Medical Center, in Goodland Kansas and Rawlins County Health Center, in Atwood Kansas are both vibrant agricultural communities with deep roots in the rural lifestyle and legacy providers of high quality rural healthcare. Goodland serves a county with a population of 6,000 that has a technical college, five parks, and museums. Atwood is the county seat of Rawlins County and is a rural frontier community steeped in agriculture and farming industries, home to the county fair, an opera house and a lake. The CEO is responsible for carrying out strategies for the delivery of patient care and other matters as defined by the Board of Directors at each hospital, the management contract, and CommonSpirit Health. This is an incredible opportunity to lead two hospitals who boast strong financials, experienced Boards and strong support from their respective communities.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Responsible for representing affiliate organization with the local health system board, medical staff and community, ensuring and promoting strong public relations and rapport with the community. Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with physicians, patients, residents, visitors, staff, and the broader health care community.
- Plans, organizes, directs, and monitors the activities of all departments/service areas of the health system. Provides leadership for team building and continuous quality improvement.
- Responsible for the health system operating budget and capital expenditure plan. Oversees all construction, building and remodeling projects; understands and works with all possible financing options.
- In collaboration with the local health system board and the region, develops strategic plan to enhance viability of the health system. Meets with department managers/supervisors to share ideas, develop goals, present pertinent information, engage in problem solving, and encourage creativity, responsibility and accountability.
- Assures adequate staffing levels are maintained to provide services that meet the needs of patients, as feasible at the local level.
- Assures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration or related field; Master's degree preferred
- Master's degree
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience in healthcare, including a senior level (VP or above) healthcare leadership role for a minimum of three (3) years
- Progressive provider relationship management and collaboration experience
- Construction management, fund-raising, and experience in similar markets
- Critical Access Hospital experience within a large health system, preferred
- Fellow American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), preferred
Rawlins County Health Center originally opened in 1950, and in 1998 the hospital was converted to Critical Access Hospital status. The hospital maintains a full-service Emergency Room with adjacent Radiology and Laboratory Departments and is open 24/7, 365 days per year. The health care facility maintains a rural health clinic in Atwood. Rawlins County Health Center provides a specialty clinic area within the hospital complex offering local patients the services of outreach specialists who fly, drive, or provide tele-med to Atwood to serve their patient base. Rawlins County Health Center is dedicated to providing professional services to all patients through the medical practices of a local physician, outreach specialists, two physician assistants, two advanced nurse practitioners, and more than 70 employees. Rawlins County Health Center is an affiliate of CommonSpirit Health, Level IV Trauma Center Designation, and a community-based primary care clinic.
With history dating back to 1923, Goodland Regional Medical Center has operated in it's current facility under this name since 1995, and enjoyed significant expansion that same decade. In 2017 GRMC was proud to become part of the CommonSpirit network of hospitals in Northwest Kansas.
While its past service to the residents of the Tri-State Area of Northwest Kansas, Eastern Colorado, and Southwest Nebraska has been filled with many accomplishments, Goodland Regional Medical Center views the future with anticipation.
