Chief Financial Officer
An award-winning residential real estate company is looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their executive team at their corporate office in Chicago, IL. The CFO will oversee all finance and accounting operations of the company.
The CFO will be accountable for the administrative, financial and risk management operations of the company, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.
Principle accountabilities are:
Planning
- Providing leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting team
- Providing strategic recommendations to the CEO/President and members of the executive management team
- Develop financial and tax strategies
- Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
- Develop performance measures and monitoring systems that support the company’s strategic direction
Operations
- Manage the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, and overseeing the preparation of all financial reporting
- Manage 3rd parties to which accounting and/or finance functions have been outsourced Oversee the company’s transaction processing systems
- Implement operational best practices
- Oversee employee benefit plans, with emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package
- Supervise acquisition process focusing on due diligence and negotiate acquisition terms
- Advise on long-term business and financial planning
- Establish and develop relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders
Financial Information
- Oversee the issuance of financial information
- Report financial results to the Senior Management Team and/or Board of Directors
Risk Management
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage
- Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
- Ensure that record keeping meets the requirement of auditors and government agencies
- Report risk issues to the CEO and/or audit committee of the board
Funding
- Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts
- Arrange for debt financing and equity financing
- Invest funds
Third Parties
- Maintain banking relationships Represent the company with investment bankers and investors
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Business administration or equivalent business experience. MBA or CPA is highly desirable
- At least 10 years’ finance experience, preferably with experience in the real estate industry
- Strong knowledge of internal controls and accounting guidelines
- A proven record of improving financial results
- Must display exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written
