About the Position
The Chief Financial Officer has primary responsibility for the strategic planning, implementation, operation and management of the firm’s finance activity including reporting, business planning, budgeting, forecasting and vendor negotiations. The CFO must have high integrity, strong analytical, strategic planning and communication skills, and an ability to work well with the chief executive officers, senior managers and the accounting department team. Quality of work must exemplify best-in-class service standards at all times.
Hybrid schedule available after 6-12 months

Work Schedule & Classification: Full-time, Salaried (Exempt position)
Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage the company's financial operations, including cash management, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, retirement plans and tax compliance. Direct accounting policies, procedures and internal controls. Recommend improvements, implement and enforce internal controls to protect financial integrity and prevent fraud.
Hire, train and retain skilled Accounting and Information Technology staff. Hold regular Team Meetings to reinforce workflows, systems, and processes and provide updates on relevant internal and external topics. Maintain high standards and continuous employee development. Provide support and training of office staff relative to area of expertise
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements on a monthly basis. Present financial reports to the executive team and board of directors, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
Conduct financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting to support strategic decision-making. Report financial status, analyze variances, and develop improvements.
Create and manage the annual budgeting process and monitor financial performance against targets. Report results on a regular basis and hold team and vendors accountable to meet budgeted performance and expenses.
Assist in the development of organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction and establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
Collaborate with other executives and department heads to develop and execute financial plans that support business objectives. Provide financial guidance and insights to support decision-making at all levels of the organization.
Ensure that all activities and operations of the company are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations, document storage and retention and financial reporting. Promote proper standards and workflows to avoid error & omissions problems and assist if any issues arise. Develop and implement risk management strategies to safeguard company assets and minimize exposure to financial risks.
Work with internal IT and external providers to maintain the security and integrity of the information technology network and systems. Ensure proper updates are performed and IT hardware, software and networks meet the security, functional and operational needs of the organization.
Ensure that building layout, systems, security and maintenance meets the needs of the organization and its employees. Coordinate with property manager to safeguard seamless operations.
Maintain a concern of timeliness, accuracy and completeness when interacting with customers, agency, carriers, vendors to minimize potential for error & omissions.
Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
Maintain relationships with external auditors and oversee the annual audit process.
Update job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by agency management.
Qualifications & Education:
2-4 years’ experience in accounting or finance management role within the insurance industry or a related field.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and/or a professional accreditation such as certified public accountant (CPA) or certified management accountant (CMA); Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance preferred.
Experience in financial planning and strategy, forecasting & budget development, managing profitability, and strategic planning.
In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), financial reporting, corporate financial law and financial risk management practices.
Advanced knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, and proficient in the use of financial management software.
Basic knowledge of IT networks, computer system architecture and data security protocols.
Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Highly organized with incredible attention to detail and an analytical mindset.
Skilled in critical thinking, financial analysis and forecasting.
