PAY RATE/STATUS: $175,000-$210,000 per year DOE/ Full-Time, Exempt
The Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center is currently seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join a team of professionals in a collaborative environment focused on results, growth and building community. Reporting directly to the CEO, and routinely interacting with Board Members, the Chief Financial Officer plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial health and sustainability of the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center. The CFO plays an integral role as a collaborative and strategic thought leader of the organization, strengthening operations and balancing opportunities for strategic growth. The CFO will provide financial leadership across the organization, acting as a key resource to the executive team on financial and administrative operations of the JCC. This role is responsible for leading the annual budgeting process, producing monthly financial statements and performance measurement reports, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations and grant requirements, and assuring the organization is in conformance with reporting requirements for the various funding sources it receives. With the assistance of the CEO and related standing committees, the CFO is responsible for the development and maintenance of internal financial controls, as well as for accuracy and integrity of the accounting and reporting systems, ensuring transparency and efficiency of our operations. The CFO should be able to articulate successes in enhancing the balance sheet, optimizing the revenue cycle, and improving key performance indicators. The CFO will need to possess strong presentation skills, and the appropriate interpersonal skills required to develop strong working relationships with a diverse group of board members, vendors, community and other non-profit and governmental agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with the CEO to develop financial plans and strategies that drive sustainable growth and profitability.
- Provide leadership in financial decision-making that affects the company, ensuring strategies are in place for financial stability and growth.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to ensure accurate and realistic financial plans.
- Manage all accounting functions, including financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls, to maintain accurate and transparent financial records.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance metrics, KPIs, and key drivers to track progress against targets and drive continuous improvement.
- Develop plans for growth to increase company profit while also reducing expenditure, leveraging financial expertise to identify opportunities for optimization.
- Provide strong leadership and mentorship to all departments, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
- Work with the development team to acquire grants and assure top-notch grant financial management, reporting, and grant compliance.
- Conduct thorough operational analyses to pinpoint areas requiring reorganization, expansion, reduction, or elimination.
- Engage effectively with the Board of Directors, funders, and various stakeholders to convey financial performance updates, address any concerns, and foster trust and transparency within the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Bachelor degree in finance or business. MBA, CPA or CMA desirable but not required.
- 7-10 years' experience in a managerial role in a finance setting.
- Knowledge of GAAP standards and fund accounting required for non-profit organizations.
- Capacity to think strategically and contribute to the organization's long-term vision and mission.
- Experience in developing and implementing procedures and systems in a growing and changing organization.
- Demonstrated experience in insurance and HR compliance, as well as facilities regulation.
- Impeccable record of integrity and ethics.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and monitoring internal controls.
- Proven track record in good reporting and timely financials.
- Excellent team leadership skills, with the ability to foster accountability and excellence.
- Understanding of internal management accounting and presentations.
- Advanced computer knowledge and skills in needed areas of finance and accounting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Typical office based setting requiring prolonged periods of time working at a desk with computer usage.
- May be extended hours during budget cycles, audits, grant reporting and other deadlines.
