The HCA HealthONE AirLife Critical Care team is one of the nation’s premier critical care medical transport programs located in Denver, Colorado. The AirLife Critical Care team operates multiple helicopters, fixed-wing and ground ambulances to care for and transport critically ill or injured patients across the Rocky Mountain region and surrounding states. The scope of care includes dedicated subspecialties with an Advanced Practice Provider / RN neonatal team, experienced High-Risk Obstetrics RNs, and Adult and Pediatric care. Our Cardiac Assist Device team also receives additional education and training on IABPs, LVADs, Impellas, iNO, and more.
AirLife includes a dedicated communication center that responds to and manages requests for medical transport across all modes of services. In coordination with AirLife’s EMS team that offers ALS and BLS transport and our vast fleet, our teams can provide an integrated transport system with the appropriate clinical care and transport type to any agency or facility that needs medical transport.

Job Summary and Qualifications
In addition to fulfilling the role of an Adult/Peds Team Transport Paramedic, the Chief Flight Paramedic serves as a leader, clinical resource person, coach, and facilitator for staff and department operations. The Chief Flight Paramedic is heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of the program and participates in program-wide improvement projects.
- Works autonomously and collaboratively, adhering to AirLife clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures with minimal supervision.
- Participates in program-wide projects. Demonstrates problem-solving skills and collaborates with administrative, clinical, and vendor employees to identify, plan, and implement changes as needed.
- Attends and participates in weekly Admin Meetings and regularly scheduled Medical Director, Advisors, and Safety Committee Meetings. Attends additional meetings as needed/requested.
- Coordinates with Medical Directors and Operations Director to ensure delivery of quality patient care. Supervises the provision of care with the Medical Directors. Works with the Clinical Educators in the identification and delivery of educational activities for the staff
- Participates in interviewing, hiring, promotion, and disciplinary matters for direct reports.
- Leads the department team in clinical matters and assists in organizational matters. Leads the team in a manner which supports, a sense of belonging, team effectiveness, accountability for clinical and personal conduct, low employee turnover, and high morale.Recognizes staff accomplishments and encourages their growth and development through regular employee rounding.
- Oversees department EMTs and works closely with department’s ambulance vendor to educate, train, and remediate EMTs. Holds a quarterly EMT meeting.
- Assists in payroll duties for the Adult/Peds Team and Administrative staff, including managing the Payroll Log and timely and accurately editing and approving Kronos.
- Routinely acts as the Administrator on Call (AOC).
- Actively participates in Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport System (CAMTS) preparation.
- Assist in the interview process for new Administrative, Adult/Peds, Specialty teams, and Vendor employees. Participates as needed in the orientation process.
- Routinely functions in the role of an Adult/Pediatric Team Transport Nurse and is regularly scheduled for clinical shifts as able and needed.
- Participates in outreach activities including transport safety and clinical education.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
- Completion of Paramedic Training Program
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5+ years of transport experience
- Previous management experience
Licensure & Certifications
- Paramedic Certification with Critical Care Endorsement for primary state of operations
- Paramedic Certifications for all applicable states in which the program operates
- Nationally Registered Paramedic (NREMT-P)
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP
- FP-C
- Certified Medical Transport Executive (CMTE) Preferred
- Maintains current and unrestricted driver’s license
