Position Summary:
The Aviation QC Inspection Manager (Chief Inspector) will report to the Director of
Quality/Operations and is responsible for the operations of the Inspection Department.
The Aviation QC Inspection Manager will have authority to perform and enforce all
actions required by the Repair Station Manual and Quality Control Manual.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Ensure that all maintenance and alterations performed by this repair station are
in accordance with the Ratings and Operations Specifications of the repair
station.
• Ensure that all housing, facilities, equipment, materials and data meet the
applicable requirements for the certificate and ratings this Repair Station holds.
• Determine equivalency of tools and equipment used by the repair station (other
than that recommended by manufacturers) and document that determination.
• Ensure all technical data provided in the manufacturer's instructions for continued
airworthiness, service bulletins, service letters, airworthiness directives,
government and industry standard practices and other data acceptable to or
approved by the FAA, are current and available to persons performing
maintenance and alterations on articles.
• Train, direct, supervise and assist all personnel performing work under the repair
station certificate as directed by the Director of Quality/Operations.
• Ensure all inspectors are thoroughly familiar with the inspection methods,
techniques, aids, tools and equipment used within their assigned area of
responsibility.
• Perform all actions required for Return to Service
• Submit reports to the head of Quality Assurance of serious failures, malfunctions
or defects in accordance with the procedures described in this manual.
• Ensure that work accomplished outside the repair station's fixed location is
performed in accordance with the repair station manuals.
• Ensure appropriate calibrations and checks are made on the tools and
equipment used by the repair station, and that the calibrated tools are sent out
for calibration as required.
• Perform in-depth quality verification using various inspection methods to
determine airworthiness of a product.
• Analyze engineering publications, shop travelers, FAA, and manufacturer's
technical data to determine nature and extent of inspection requirements.
• Determines the most practical inspection method and technique and plans
appropriate sequence of operation.
• Selects and uses the appropriate precision measuring tools to dimensionally
inspect and determine part tolerance and clearances including but not limited to
micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, test and drop indicators, surface plates,
feelers gauges, and torque wrenches.
• Review article trace documentation to accurately identify suspect unapproved
parts.
• Locate and accurately interpret technical data.
• Locate and accurately interpret blueprints and aircraft drawings.
• Ability to identify discrepancies on aircraft parts.
• Keeps accurate, neat and legible records of the maintenance performed on
aircraft articles.
• Conducts audits of maintenance documentation for accuracy and completion
prior to approval for return to service.
• Conduct in-process inspections on maintenance being performed.
• Use company forms to document discrepancies and communicate findings to
mechanics and department leads.
• Perform final inspection using appropriate technical data to verify proper article
configuration and operation.
• Perform First Article Inspections and communicate findings in verbal and written
format.
• Complete capability assessments as required to ensure all work being performed
falls within repair station ratings, and that the repair station has appropriately
trained personnel, tooling and equipment, approved/accepted technical data, and
processes to be added to the repair stations limited ratings capability list.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• The person must have an A&P License or the ability to obtain a repairman
certificate for return to service of applicable ratings.
• The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of component maintenance
experience at an airline or MRO and at least 3 years of inspection experience.
• Must have a thorough understanding of the applicable Federal Aviation
Regulations, as well as inspection methods, techniques, and equipment used to
determine the quality or airworthiness of an article undergoing maintenance,
repair, or alterations.

Travel:
• May be asked to travel up to 10% of the time.

Physical Demands:
• Ability to walk and stand on level or inclined surfaces for extended periods of
time.
• Ability to climb stairs, ramps, ladders and work stands.
• Ability to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend
elbows and knees and reach above and below shoulders.
• Ability to lift/carry/push/pull heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
• Work at heights up to 80 feet above the ground.
• Ability to maneuver into different positions to accomplish required tasks.
Working Conditions:
The environmental characteristic for this position is a commercial aviation repair station
and warehouse setting that is fully air conditioned! Schedule will be Monday - Friday.
Candidates should be able to adapt to the environments listed. There may be
momentary exposure to high noises, exposure to chemicals and cleaning agents, and
Personal Protection Equipment may be required for certain tasks.
