The Chief Operational Engineer at The Jay Odom Group LLC is responsible for overseeing all administrative, financial, and operational aspects of the hotel's engineering department. This role ensures that the property is maintained efficiently, providing guests with a clean, attractive, and secure environment, complemented by friendly and attentive service. The Chief Operational Engineer plays a crucial role in upholding the standards of Odom Hotels, focusing on guest satisfaction, safety, and property maintenance.

- Approach all guest and team member interactions with a service-oriented and friendly attitude.
- Comply with and enforce Odom Hotels procedures and regulations to maintain safe and efficient operations.
- Supervise and train engineering staff on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Loss Prevention standards.
- Adhere to and manage the department's annual budget.
- Post and monitor engineering staff schedules, addressing overtime and changes as needed.
- Develop and implement plans for property, equipment, and grounds maintenance to ensure an acceptable state of repair.
- Ensure all emergency and life safety equipment and systems are inspected, tested, and certified according to standards.
- Handle room maintenance requests promptly and courteously.
- Respond to alarms immediately, assess the situation, and take necessary action while communicating with the front desk.
- Actively participate in and promote energy conservation programs.
- Ensure compliance with the American Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Administer vendor contracts related to the Engineering department.
- Assign daily work orders to engineers through Quore and monitor completion.
- Maintain inventory of mechanical, electrical, and kitchen equipment parts, ensuring stock levels are sufficient.
- Attend and/or conduct training and meetings as requested by management.
- Ensure high standards of comfort, service, and quality for guests.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train new associates for the engineering team.
- Maintain guest and property security by enforcing safety regulations and procedures.
- Handle all in-house repairs and be familiar with major shut-off stations for water, electricity, and fire alarms.
- Ensure the Preventative Maintenance program is ongoing and up-to-date through Quore.
- Prepare requisitions for replacement parts and materials, manage outside maintenance contracts, and oversee major system maintenance.
- Ensure all associates are in uniform, wear name tags, and present themselves professionally.
- Prepare and manage the yearly maintenance budget.
- Provide quarterly training to management and front office teams on fire alarm systems, enunciators, sprinkler systems, etc.
- Act as Manager on Duty when designated by the General Manager.
- Perform additional duties as requested by management.
- Excellent verbal communication, comprehension, listening, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
- Effective guest relation skills with a focus on service excellence.
- Adaptability and the ability to handle changing situations.
- Maintenance experience is required.
- A minimum of two years of previous team management or supervisory experience is preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Technical training in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, walk, use hands or fingers, feel objects, tools, or controls, and lift boxes up to 15 pounds.
