POSITION SUMMARY
The Child Care Director is responsible for coordinating all aspects related to the daily operation of the Child Care facility. The Child Care Director works to ensure that all facets of the center comply with state and federal operating requirements. These operations include both the year-round reoccurring and non-reoccurring Child Care program. The Child Care Director will cultivate a healthy work environment for staff, while ensuring the happiness and safety of all children within the facility. This is a full-time year-round benefit eligible position. The salary for this position is $60,000 annually.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provide guidance and direction for all Child Care staff members throughout their employment life cycle.
- Must maintain Child Care Director level credentials under the state of Vermont.
- Actively manage staff retention and recruitment, while overseeing professional development for our associate and assistant teachers, ensuring yearly educational requirements are fulfilled.
- Resolve guest complaints or inquiries by utilizing all resort tools and policy guidelines accommodating special requests when appropriate.
- Manage reservations, long-term contracts and check-in process for those enrolling in the programs.
- Maintain the Child Care facility, making sure it is a clean, well-organized and safe. Responsible for submitting monthly safety and facility audits.
- Ensure staff files and children's records are accurate, up to date and are submitted when requested.
- Maintain relationship with the Vermont Department for Children and Families, be able to communicate regulatory changes so operational, or material adjustments can be made to the facility as required by the state.
- Oversight and management of the Child Care budget to revenue targets.
- Help develop and support the architecture and maintenance of the Guest Satisfaction and Employee Satisfaction initiatives.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- High School diploma required.
- Must be qualified as a Teacher Associate and shall have completed either (1) a Vermont Early Childhood and Afterschool Program Director Step One Certificate; or (2) Successful completion of a three-credit college course in program management for early care and education or for school age care and education, or in staff supervision related to early care and education of children; and a three-credit college course in curriculum. Must have completed, or must plan to complete, a three-credit college course in managing an early care and education program that includes budgeting and financial management, as approved by the Vermont Department of Child and Family Services.
- Must meet or exceed all Vermont licensing requirements.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years, experience as a Head Teacher/Assistant Director in a licensed child care program.
- Experience developing and conducting classes or workshops for child care staff and/or parents
- Supervision and staff management experience
- Experience with the State of Vermont Child Care Financial Assistance Program
- Familiarity with the Ski Industry preferred
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 21+ years of age
- Knowledge of child development, theories and practices, including safe and appropriate activities for children is paramount. Detailed understanding of relevant state legislation, regulation, policies and procedure that ensure children are supervised and safe at all times. A strong understanding of business operation and financial management, with resort experience a plus.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Occasional travel may be required to attend educational functions.

This position will require work during weekends and holidays.
