POSITION SUMMARY
Under general direction, but following established policies and procedures, provides outpatient and/or inpatient mental health therapy and psychological testing assessment. Using professional level of knowledge assesses patient's emotional, social, and psychological needs and determines appropriate intervention methods. Maintains related records and collaborates with other caregivers, case managers and managed care representatives.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Utilize accepted practices of psychological assessment, intervention and support aimed at reducing the effects of trauma in children, adolescents and young adults. This may include both cognitive and achievement-based testing as well as assessment of other psychological disorders of childhood including mood, anxiety based and behaviorally based disorders to ensure a complete picture of the child’s current presentation.
- Conducts diagnostic interviews and psychosocial assessments with patients and their families to obtain data on the client's personal, social, legal, medical, emotional, family, and social-economic history and presenting problem(s).
- Develops treatment plan documentation in the client’s chart. Reviews and revises treatment plan monthly or more often as needed. Consults with other treatment team members, as necessary to reflect progress and goals.
- Provides evidence based therapy to individuals, families, and groups drawing from a variety of therapies and modalities as indicated by the client's age, individual needs and in keeping with acceptable standards of practice.
- Provides crisis intervention; makes follow-up contacts and referrals to appropriate sources as needed.
- Develops and maintains network of referral sources in the community including mental health, medical, financial, and legal sources, represents outpatient behavioral health services in such networks. Assist clients in identifying and using appropriate resources.
- Develops discharge plans, including any aftercare needed.
- Maintains clinical case records according to policies, procedures, and acceptable standards of practice.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
- Participates in community education activities; makes presentations as requested at such times as are mutually agreed to by employee and manager.
- Notifies appropriate agencies of cases suspected of violations of the law such as abuse or neglect of a child, assists in investigation of such cases as requested.
- Works with other department staff to develop innovative programs to meet patient needs.
- Works with physicians, other health care providers, family members, schools, court staff, attorneys, and case managers.
- Participates in utilization management activities as needed (as required for reimbursement of services provided) Completes forms and other necessary documentation in a timely manner for office support staff.
- Assists manger and participates in staff meetings, clinical supervision based on State requirements and other meetings as assigned.
- Keeps current in development of treatment modalities, approaches and regulations affecting the practice of psychology in an outpatient and/or inpatient setting. Will conduct in-service educational programs for other staffs at such times as are mutually agreed to by employee and manager.
- Interview and coordinate the training of masters and doctoral level psychology students from local colleges and universities. Provide updates and assist in annual performance reviews as needed for colleges and universities who supply students for our program.
- Communicate with college and university programs providing students as needed to update them on the students progress and clinical skills.
- Provide educational seminars as needed to college and universities who supply students for our program.
- Train students on use of accepted practices of assessment, interventions and support aimed at reducing the effects of trauma. Provide chart review and sign off on all clinical documentation completed by students.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Doctorate of Philosophy (PH.D.) in Psychology or Doctor of Psychology (PSY. D.)
- Skills: Knowledge of mental health, trauma-informed, treatment, methods, interventions, and relevant legal regulations. Knowledge of community agencies, services, and related procedures. Interpersonal skills and continued competency to counsel the patients they serve from the following groups: pediatric (2-11 years), adolescent (12-17 years), young adult (18-21 years), with psychological, emotional, and social disorders and their families and to deal effectively with outside organizations. Analytical ability to analyze patient's needs, determine solutions, and implement solutions.
- Years of Experience: Staff serving individuals with a primary diagnosis of a mental health nature, 2 years’ experience serving individuals with mental health concerns.
- License: Psychologist in Ohio
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Personal Protective Equipment: Demonstrates knowledge and use of standard precautions and PPE.
- Demonstrates knowledge and use of safe patient handling equipment.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, temperature changes, and exposure to blood borne pathogens and bodily fluids.
- Must be able to attain all health requirements as identified by the organization (i.e., PPD, respirator training, vaccines, as appropriate).
- Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations, and prolonged periods of standing.
- Must be able to frequently move, lift or carry light to heavy patients or equipment.
- Must be able to lift medium materials, non-material handling; continuous standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching; frequent pushing, pulling, and squatting. Occasional sitting, stairs, and kneeling.
