Childcare Chef Position - Discovery Clubhouse

About the Job
As a Chef for Discovery Clubhouse you would be preparing 4 meals a day, for up 150 children; We provide breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner. You would be working closely with the Food Program Coordinator and Admins to implement our cycled menus, purchase and prepare food, and completing our USDA food program paperwork. The menus are cycled on a 4 week rotation, so creativity with food is a must, children love structure, but they also love the novelty of something new with their meals. The Chef also has the responsibility of maintaining and cleaning the kitchen, food service utensils, and food storage areas in accordance with Utah Health Department. The Chef is always a celebrity around the facility, you will be greeted with cheers, smiles, hugs galore, and so much love.
Some other other job duties and expectations you can expect are:
- Participates in team meetings, required in-services, and all cook networking and trainings.
- Communicates and works effectively with other staff members.
- Must be flexible. Schedules are always changing, and children can be unpredictable.
- Maintain all Child Care Food Program Paperwork. This includes daily production sheets, weekly production sheets, weekly inventory lists, and cycled menus.
- Have an understanding of all CACFP and Food Program responsibility.
- Meet and excel at company core values.
- Prepares, organizes, and sets up the food for meals and snacks (including meeting the "time of day meal service" guidelines required by the Child Care Food Program).
- Work along side your sub cook for dinner service, and have effective communication.
- Basic cooking skills plus experience in food service and volume meal preparation.
- Must be able to read and follow a recipe and a cycle menu.
- Must possess organizational skills, time management skills, and the ability to prioritize.
- Physical ability to remain on feet for extended periods of time.
To be a Chef at Discovery Clubhouse, you must also be able to pass a background check, have limited physical restrictions, enjoy being around children and families, and have a valid drivers license. Having previous experience in a food industry is suggested, but not required.
