The Children Crisis Service Coordinator
Duties:
- Shift coverage and oversight for all 12 Children's CSU beds, funding reports, hiring and training of Children's CSU staff, chart/clinical documentation and direct service delivery, and a liaison with East Tennessee Children's Hospital (ETCH).
JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY
- Children's Crisis Services Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and supervising the daily operations of the Children's CSU.
- Administrative tasks will include on site coverage, reports, scheduling, and training for the children's crisis stabilization unit housed at East Tennessee Children's Hospital (ETCH).
- Services Coordinator will work in conjunction with the larger Children's Crisis Continuum to collaborate on acute services for children and youth in the area.
- Services Coordinator will provide supervision to designated employees, and work alongside ETCH partnerships to ensure a successful service delivery.
- Clinical responsibilities include on-call and clinical direction while on site.
- In addition to supervisory responsibilities, Services Coordinator will meet with clients and treatment team as clinically indicated.
- Facilitate referral-related activities to link clients with needed services.
- Follow-up on clinical directives to ensure client treatment is being rendered.
- Complete assessments at main site and in the community setting as needed.
- This position requires training and certification in and the ability to adequately implement a variety of verbal and physical de-escalation methods that include a wide range of bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another person, going down on knees, running and walking.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
- This position will be housed at East Tennessee Children's Hospital (ETCH) where the Children's CSU will be operating.
- Services coordinator will be expected to work in and create a therapeutic environment while meeting the medical and facility requirements for operating a CSU.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Participates as an active member of the crisis team
- Begins and ends workday as scheduled and is accessible by cell phone when in the field.
- Responds appropriately to all flags, emails, and voicemails.
- Demonstrates a consideration and concern for fellow workers and their jobs and promotes harmonious relationships and attitudes.
- Attends and participates in scheduled administrative team meetings.
- Attends daily treatment team meetings.
- Meet with designated employees at least monthly for clinical supervision.
- Completes daily shift reports re: CSU milieu.
2. Completes documentation of client care in compliance with CARF and funder standards.
- Completes all necessary documentation for each client before end of shift.
- Ensures clear documentation re: time of referrals and declines is completed by identified staff.
- Review/Sign all treatment plans completed.
- Review charts for audit compliance. Participate in audits when requested.
- Complete monthly and weekly State reports and quarterly reports (QAQI).
- Completes monthly PM notes related to billing.
3. Responsible for the day-to-day operations for Children's CSU
- Provides direction to clients in crisis.
- Ensures that all clients are seen within two-hour time frame when possible.
- Provides on-call crisis intervention according to established protocol
- Through collaboration with the Children's Crisis Continuum, ETCH, and the Walk-In Center client assessment, determine appropriate level of care and ensure all parties involved of plan are informed.
- Provide education and referral information when clinically appropriate
- Acts as a liaison with community agencies and families to ensure appropriate care for client
- Conducts individual/family/significant other therapy with CSU clients as clinically indicated when CCC staff are unavailable.
- Provide direction to front line staff to ensure that clients are seen in a timely manner and according to priority.
- Hire CSU staff as needed and ensure positions are filled within 2 weeks of becoming vacant.
- Maintain communication with all staff members in order to safely and effectively provide crisis services.
- Complete CAPs/verbal coaching as needed with staff.
COMPENSATION:
- Starting salary for this position is approximately $70,730 /yr based on relevant experience and education.
Schedule:
- The Children's Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) will operate 24/7, 365 days a year.
- The holder of this position will be expected to work shifts that meet the needs of the program operation, which may include day, night, weekend, and holiday hours.
- Regular attendance is an essential job function.
- Mandatory to remain awake and alert during shift.
Travel:
- This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business.
- Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment.
- An F endorsement is required.
Equipment/Technology:
- This position requires the use of computer skills with an electronic medical record (EMR), and telehealth/televideo services may be offered as part of the service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS - Children Crisis Service Coordinator
Education / Knowledge:
- A Master's degree in a health-related field of counseling, psychology, social work, sociology and experience working with individuals with mental illness and/or co-occurring diagnoses.
- Preferred Master's level licensed or license eligible clinician.
Experience:
- Must have course work and or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and crisis intervention.
- Must have experience in working with special populations including individuals with Severe and Persistent Mental Illnesses and Co-Occurring Disorders.
- Computer experience is helpful.
- Experience working in a crisis setting preferred.
Physical:
- Exposure to biological hazards.
- Hearing of normal and soft tones.
- Close eye work.
- Valid driver's license.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Certified in First Aid and CPR.
- Mandatory to stay awake and alert while on shift.
