Summary:
The Community Impact Capital (CIC) Business Development Associate (BDA) works with Business Development Officers on originating and underwriting equity and debt for LIHTC investments and loans. This position reports to the Director of Business Development. Please note: Preferred locations are Columbus, OH, Clayton, MO, Cleveland, OH, Detroit, MI and Chicago, IL.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Assist Business Development Officers (BDO) with originating LIHTC equity and construction and permanent debt at the lower tier.
+ Assist BDOs with origination of construction and permanent debt via CIC’s investments in multi and proprietary funds.
+ Financial modeling of tax benefits and capital account analysis, sources and uses, capital stack, development budget, operating budget pro forma, cash flow, benefit schedule, and other relevant analyses.
+ Acting as a contact with the developer during the underwriting and closing process with an emphasis on building relationship.
+ Act as contact with developer during the underwriting and closing process, as needed.
+ Collaborating with other CIC colleagues to create Best in Class business development, project management, underwriting, closing, and asset management platform.
+ Acting as a point of contact with Credit in investments and loans via regular and substantive updates to key issues.
+ Demonstrating strong stewardship over Huntington’s financial and community impact interests internally and in the communities where we invest.
+ Representing the bank in industry events and participate in industry leading discussions including policy.
+ Being a point of contact for legal and accounting professionals.
+ Financial modeling to include revenue, expenses, debt structures, market comparable and other relevant analyses.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree
+ 3 - 5 years of LIHTC experience including technical knowledge of the LIHTC program
+ 2+ years business development experience preferably in the Affordable Housing/LIHTC sector
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business
+ Technical knowledge of the LIHTC program
+ Familiarity with other tax credit programs such as State and Historic Tax Credits and debt products
+ Basic proficiency in excel modeling of debt and equity investments
+ Basic knowledge of limited partnership agreements and loan documents with focus on guarantees and security
+ Basic understanding of analyzing sponsor financial statements, real estate owned schedules, organizational structures, and business plans
+ Some tax credit syndications knowledge
+ Strong presentation skills to Credit and other internal stakeholders
