CIM Planners work closely with teams in Merch Planning, Resource Planning, and Logistics, ensuring inventory goals align with broader company objectives.
This role is essential for meeting customer expectations, driving financial goals, and maintaining smooth supply chain operations.
CIM Planners ensure that the timing and quantity of product supply meet the company’s demand needs. They handle specifics down to the product code (PC9) and size level. If supply does not meet demand, the planner must:
- Identify and communicate risks (such as potential delays).
- Review options to expedite shipments when needed.
- Track inbound shipments to prioritize resources effectively.
The planner must strike a balance between two primary objectives:
- Order Fill Rates
- Ensuring customer orders are fulfilled at high rates (target above 92%).
- Inventory Turnover
- Maintaining optimal inventory flow (LS&Co turn), minimizing excess stock and maximizing product movement.
Key Metrics:
- Order Fill Rates
- Must stay above 92% to ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Turn in line with AFP
- Ensuring that inventory turnover aligns with Levi's financial goals.
- Open-to-Buy Financials
- Managing purchase commitments within budgeted spending limits.
Scope:
- Each CIM Planner oversees 800-1,000 active product codes across four main channels: Main-line stores, E-commerce, Outlet, and Wholesale.
- They manage an annual purchase volume of approximately 15 million units or $175 million.
- They interact with about 20 business partners, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan Supply
- Align supply with demand signals to prevent shortages.
- Maintain Fill Rates
- Keep order fulfillment rates above 92%.
- Drive Inventory and Financial Goals
- Manage inventory and finances in line with company targets.
- Communicate Supply Risks
- Inform cross-functional teams about potential supply issues.
- Issue Purchase Orders
- Place orders at the product code and delivery date levels.
- Convert Demand for Packaging
- Organize products into case packs or pre-packs when applicable.
- Manage Inventory Transitions
- Reallocate unsold inventory at season’s end to alternative accounts.
- Review Additional Requests
- Evaluate requests for additional stock and allocate inventory based on availability.
Qualifications:
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience
- 1-2 years in supply chain management, ideally with experience in the apparel industry and vendor management.
- Skills
- Strong analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency, excellent written communication, and a curiosity to dive into details.
