Cisco Network Engineer
Location: Birmingham, AL
Duration: Contract

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain the organization's Cisco Routers, Switches, F5 Load Balancers, Check Point Firewalls and Intrusion Detection/Prevention
- Recommend solutions to enhance network performance
- Schedule regular maintenance for the application of security patches and IOS upgrades for network devices and software
- Work with communications vendor, if necessary, for budgetary pricing and purchases of date circuits and network devices
- Troubleshoot and resolve network problems
- Monitor network traffic via approved software
- Work with Information Security on secured configurations and policies for network devices
- Ensure procedures are followed as it pertains to Sarbanes-Oxley and update procedures as necessary
- Mitigate risks associated with vulnerability assessments initiated by Information Security
- Review and develop procedures and document resolutions
- Establish detailed procedures for training and reference
- Keep network diagrams current
- Participate in an on-call rotation
Essential Characteristics and Competencies
- Strong Ethics and Integrity, customer focused, results-driven, teamwork, communications, adaptability, quality, initiative, problem solving and analysis.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, a related discipline or equivalent experience
- 4 years' experience in network security, including firewall and VPN technology
- 4 years' experience in routing, switching and load balancing technology
- Experience with wireless technology within a corporate environment
Certificates/Licenses:
- CCNA is preferred
- CISSP certification a plus
- Additional network certifications a plus.
- The work environment is on the casual side of business casual and jeans are allowed on Fridays.
