Armand Corporation, an award-winning M/WBE Construction Management firm celebrating over 33 years in the industry, is seeking a full-time Construction Inspector for a federal construction project related to complex rail, transit, and other transportation projects in NY & NJ.
The ideal candidate has 5 years of progressive experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on rails, tunnels, soil, excavation, and large shafts, as well as a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
This position will be full-time, on-site. Candidates are expected to live in or near the New York metropolitan area.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform inspections on existing conditions, work being performed, and completed work for quality, completeness, and accuracy.
- Prepare written documentation, including daily work reports, controlled inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work.
- Review and mark plans and specifications as needed to ensure and track compliance with the work performed.
- Observe work conditions for compliance to applicable safety regulations.
- Prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously; and follow through on projects to successful completion.
- Communicate with various parties on the progress of the work in a timely manner.
- Other related duties and tasks as required.
QUALIFICATIONS include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Experience working within multiple concurrent projects
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or in a related field highly preferred
- 5 or more years of experience in construction supervision/inspection
- Prior experience with rails, tunnels, excavation, and large shafts, is required.
- OSHA 10 at minimum (additional training will be provided, if required)
- NJ Transit, MTA, or Amtrack safety training, is a plus but training will be provided, if required.
- Advanced certifications preferred (NICET, ACI, etc.)
- Ability to pass a TWIC and/or SWAC Background Check at High Level
- Valid drivers license may be required depending on site location
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must be fluent in English (both written and spoken)
