The Civil Engineer II position is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities on small and moderately sized projects, designs a complete project, and prepares complete project documents.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assign tasks and coordinates work with entry-level engineers.
- Assist in determining schedule and budget requirements.
- Assist with proposals to provide professional services.
- Prepare permit applications.
- Coordinate with public and regulators.
- Occasionally interacts with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others.
- Receive instruction on specific objectives.
- Receive a thorough review of completed work for the application of sound professional judgment.
- Travel to remote project sites as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to gather and analyze data, reason logically and creatively, draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
- Basic knowledge of the design process and proficient in modeling software.
- Ability to prioritize and organize, work well under stress, meet deadlines.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to constant change.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required to meet deadlines.
- Ability to facilitate public meetings (public speaking).
- Skilled in interpersonal communication to assist staff and occasionally clients and contractors.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, and AutoCAD.
- Ability to travel and perform field work away from direct supervision.
- Ability to travel to remote locations in adverse arctic weather conditions.
- Ability to perform tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
- Knowledge of civil construction techniques and sequencing.
Measures of Performance:
- Communicates clearly both orally and written (20%). Reliability: completes tasks within allotted budget/time (20%).
- Technical abilities: Applies problem solving independently, uses valid reasoning, pays close attention to detail, determines correct solutions, and follows directions accurately (20%).
- Ability and willingness to perform field work in remote locations for extended durations (10%). Proficient with software tools: AutoCAD, word, excel, etc. (15%).
- Understands and follows Bristol's company goals and standard operating procedures (5%). Safety (5%).
- Promotes a positive attitude / works well with others (5%).
Required Qualification:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
- Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is required.
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience in Civil Engineering is required.
- Valid driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Project is preferred.
- Experience with hydraulic modeling software, such as HEC-RAS is preferred.

- Mobility: Must be able to stoop, kneel, reach, walk, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
- Hearing: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
- Visual Acuity: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
- Lifting: Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
