Responsibilities:
What you'll be challenged to do:
TranSystems' Berkeley office seeks a motivated and talented civil engineer to join our growing engineering team. This position will include civil engineering design, CAD work and plan layout and presentation for a variety of projects, including rail, road, airport infrastructure, coastal development, industrial site development, storm water management and utilities design projects. Day to day assignments and technical guidance will be directed by current staff Project Managers. This position will also involve coordination with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and personnel in the Oakland office and other TranSystems offices. Some project management experience is a plus. TranSystems is currently working in a hybrid remote and in-person work environment. TranSystems appreciates the importance of work-life balance and offers flexible work schedules and environments.
General Responsibilities:
- Preparation of conceptual design and construction documents using Microstation/Geopak/OpenRoads and AutoCAD/Civil 3D, SewerCAD
- Preparation of investigative design reports, studies, and databases/maps. GIS experience preferred, not required.
- Project coordination with in-house engineering and architects and outside consultants.
- Mentor, train and oversee the work of junior staff as well as maintain a hands-on role in the production of deliverables.
- Working under the general supervision of the team leader, the candidate will direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects.
Qualifications:
What you bring to our firm:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
- Registration as a licensed California Professional Engineer.
- Minimum 3-5 years civil engineering design experience.
- Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and various engineering software systems
- Experience with engineering civil design packages including AutoCAD Civil 3D.

What we’d prefer for you to bring to our firm:
- Licensed Engineer with 4 to 10 years of professional experience on a diverse range of transportation-related projects.
- Civil 3D, ORD and GeoPak/InRoads
- Strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to lead and manage technical work and multidisciplinary projects.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.

This compensation range is specific to the State of xxx and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; internal peer equity; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Gannett Fleming TranSystems, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $100,000 - $130,000 annually.
