Responsibilities:
- Civil Design:
- Lead and manage the design of roadways, intersections, ADA curb ramps, parking facilities, and pedestrian infrastructure.
- Ensure designs meet all applicable codes, standards, and regulations, including AASHTO and NJDOT specifications.
- Preparation of Contract Plans and Documents:
- Develop comprehensive contract plans and bid documents for various civil engineering projects.
- Prepare detailed construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Project Management:
- Oversee and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and on-budget delivery.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to define project requirements and objectives.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Utilize AutoCAD, MicroStation, INROADS, and Civil 3D for design and drafting purposes.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in design software and tools.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
- Prepare and review reports, applications, and other documentation required for project approvals.
- Quality Assurance:
- Conduct thorough reviews of design documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Implement quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Client Interaction and Communication:
- Maintain effective communication with clients, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns.
- Present project plans and progress to clients and stakeholders clearly and professionally.
- Mentorship and Development:
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in the design of roadways, intersections, ADA curb ramps, parking, and pedestrian facilities.
- PE license in New Jersey or the ability to obtain one within 12 months; PE license in New York is beneficial.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, INROADS, and Civil 3D.
- Strong knowledge of AASHTO standards and NJDOT plans, cost estimates, and specifications.
- Familiarity with standards and procedures from agencies such as NJTA, PANYNJ, NYSDOT, or PennDOT is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
