Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and collaborative law firm with a national presence, seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to join its team as a Civil Litigation Paralegal in its Baltimore office.
The position requires the ability to multitask effectively and balance working on multiple requests and projects on a daily basis. Strong analytical and organizational skills and attention to detail are required. The paralegal will assist and provide a wide range of legal support to the supervising attorney(s). These duties include maintaining files, conducting legal research, drafting documents, communicating with clients and other parties involved in the cases, etc. This position requires knowledge of best law firm practices and the legal field.
This role is eligible to be on a hybrid work schedule after in-office training is completed.
IMPORTANT QUALITIES:
Communication Skills: The paralegal must be able to document and present their legal research and any related information to their supervising attorney(s) in a timely manner.
Computer Skills: The paralegal needs to be familiar with using computers for legal research and litigation support as well as support in any other facets of law. In addition, the paralegal needs to be familiar with computer software that may help them organize and maintain legal documents.
Interpersonal Skills: The paralegal will spend most of their time working closely with clients and other professionals and must be able to develop good relationships. As such, they must make clients comfortable sharing personal information regarding their cases.
Organizational Skills: The paralegals will be responsible for many cases at times. They must adapt to a fast-paced environment with constant changing of deadlines. In addition, in order to be efficient the paralegal must contain excellent organizational skills.
Research Skills: The paralegal will need to have good research and investigative skills to conduct legal research.

BILLING HOUR REQUIREMENT:
- 100 hours per month
RESPONSIBILITIES/SKILLS
- Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure
- Must have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently, with minimal supervision
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficient as a billing timekeeper
- E-filing in all Maryland jurisdictions (state and federal). DC e-filing experience is preferred as well.
- Preparation of discovery requests and standard form motions
- Preparation of medical abstracts/chronologies
- Preparation of subpoenas (foreign and domestic) and Public Information Act requests
- Knowledge of legal documents and terminology
- Assisting attorneys in investigating the facts of a case, including contacting and interviewing witnesses
- Organize and maintain documents in the physical file and the firm’s document Management software
- Gather, maintain current, and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation
- Prepare trial, mediation, and motion hearing binders to help attorneys prepare for hearings and trial
- Reach out to clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, or depositions.
- Overall case management, including assisting the attorney with meeting calendar and pleading deadlines
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of experience as a civil litigation and trial paralegal.
- Litigation defense experience is preferred.
- ABA-accredited paralegal certification (or equivalent) preferred
