Maul Foster & Alongi, Inc. (MFA) is seeking a full-time Project Engineerwith over 5 years of experience. Our ideal candidate will have expertise and interest in stormwater design, environmental remediation, or site development projects. Additionally, a general interest in land use development, industrial site cleanup and brownfield redevelopment is preferred. As a Project Engineer, you will engage in every phase of project execution, including design, permitting, specifications, quantity calculations, oversight, report and proposal writing, project management, and cost estimating.
As our Project Engineer, you will...
be responsible for preparing engineering designs and completing related permitting and specifications. Your role will include supporting the bidding and contract solicitation processes, as well as assisting with construction oversight, management, and support. This includes field work, quality control, quantity calculations, and reviewing payment applications. Additionally, you will prepare reports and proposals, manage projects, and support the management of larger projects by developing and implementing scopes, schedules, and budgets. Performing detailed quality control reviews of work prepared by others will also be part of your duties. Effective communication with clients and regulatory agencies is essential, as is participating in discussions and negotiations. You will both lead and collaborate with project teams to complete project work, while working independently, soliciting input from mentors, and providing mentoring support to others.
To thrive in this role, you must have...
a bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution. You should have a current PE certification with the ability to obtain licensure by comity in Oregon and Washington within three months. Experience and interest in stormwater design, environmental remediation, and site development are important, along with over five years of relevant work experience and appropriate continuing education. You should be able to effectively work as a project manager within a team, managing scope, schedule, budget, project delivery, and communications with the client. Sound technical capabilities, organizational and problem-solving skills, and strong communication skills are essential. Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD design software, specifically Civil 3D, and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel are required. A willingness to work overtime as necessary, a valid driver's license, and an acceptable driving record are also important. Additionally, you must be able to perform physical duties such as lifting, using respiratory equipment and other protective gear, and traversing rough terrain.
It is a bonus if you have industrial stormwater or industrial wastewater design experience, utility design, Civil 3D grading experience, construction oversight, or construction management experience. Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification with current refresher are also advantageous.

Compensation Range: $85,000 to $107,000
