Impact Recruitment is working with a full-service civil engineering and land surveying firm with 43 years of experience, located in Carlsbad CA. Our client offers comprehensive, client-based, professional civil engineering, design, land surveying, mapping and consulting services. They have provided services for public works, utilities, industrial, commercial, retail and large housing projects.
We have a full-time, manager-level position available for a seasoned civil engineer interested in public and/or private sector development. The position will entail oversight of design work on roadways, subdivisions, hospitals and golf courses, site development and grading, stormwater systems, utility infrastructure, topographic survey mapping and bathymetry, and other similarly complex civil infrastructure. The position offers challenging opportunities to work on diverse projects that could include research and writing stormwater quality and hydromodification reports, subdivision development, property ownership ministerial oversight (e.g., tentative parcel maps, lot line adjustments, etc.), and multi-modal, green streets roadway improvement plans.

Design Engineer Responsibilities:
- Independently handle all aspects of project management, including project scoping, project budgeting, and project scheduling.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with project teams, clients, and stakeholders through both oral and written channels.
- Demonstrate leadership in providing engineering design guidance and problem solving in a collaborative environment.
- Independently manage multiple projects simultaneously, with minimal supervision, and a focus on client care.
- Adapt and respond effectively to project issues and challenges, implementing solutions to keep projects on track.
- Negotiate change orders, review submittals and provide responses to Requests for Information.
- Effective at facilitating interdisciplinary team collaboration, including project team,
Design Engineer Qualifications:
- A Bachelors degree from an accredited College or University in Engineering, or related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) will be a plus.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in municipal infrastructure and/or private development projects.
- Strong proficiency in understanding complex civil engineering drawings, scope and fees, and technical reports.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond to proposals by collaborative participation in proposal, scope and fee authorship for new work.
- Effectively use MS Office and modern digital tools (e.g., Word, Excel, Windows Explorer, Dropbox, public agency portals, etc.) to complete work and collaborate to effectively meet client needs.
- Physical presence at the Carlsbad, CA office, during regular working hours (i.e., M-F, 8am-5pm, precise hours flexible).
