About the Job
Kleinschmidt has an opening for a Civil/Structural Engineering Intern in our Charlotte, North Carolina office. The opening is for the 2025 summer break; however, there is potential for part-time work during the school year.
Who You Are
Student: A student going into junior or senior year in the fall of 2025 with a concentration in Structural Engineering. Should have course work experience in structural analysis and design of concrete and steel structures.
Motivated: Will work 8am-5pm five days a week in our Charlotte, North Carolina office during the summer. Willingness to travel with engineers for multi-day trips to project sites.
Relationship Focused: Ability to work well with a multi-discipline team, good oral and written communication skills
Organized: Ability to manage and prioritize tasks assigned by others with direction.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with structural design and modeling software (CAD, MathCAD, RISA) is a plus
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States and the ability to acquire authorization to work in Canada.
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- EIT preferred
About The Position
Typical duties of this position include assisting mid- and senior-level engineering staff in performing project work. There will be opportunities for exposure to drafting, structural design, dam safety, inspections, construction support and other areas. The successful candidate will be part of a team of technical professionals working on various hydro and other renewable energy projects in the U.S. and will have the opportunity to work directly with and learn from staff with a wide range of experience levels including recent graduates and senior staff having up to 30 years of experience in the fields of hydroelectric and fish passage facilities design while incorporating the skills of structural, civil, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
