General Purpose of Position:

The Claims Examiner / Corporate Representative's primary role involves serving as the designated corporate representative for Cypress Property & Casualty Insurance Company and or Service First Insurance Group in property claims litigation with the ability to effectively articulate the company's position for achieving best outcomes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Analyze and evaluate a variety of claim files in preparation for corporate representative depositions
• Articulate the company's position in a clear, strategic, and professional manner
• Review of applicable property insurance policy coverages associated with key affirmative defenses
• Testify in depositions, trials, and other legal proceedings on behalf of the company
• Review legal pleadings and execute affidavits for legal motions that support the company's position
• Effectively maintain a fluid schedule and adapt with any fluctuations
• Collaborate with defense counsel and claims management to implement fair, effective, and consistent strategic actions supportive of overall defense plans
• Make recommendations to management for any potential settlement candidates
• Keep abreast of relevant claims handling statutes, legal procedures, and legislation
• Maintain properly documented claim files with accurate, clear, and timely information that reflects all activities or substantiate updates
• Ability to assist with other departmental projects or claims handling activities as may be needed

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
• Minimum Three to Five (3-5) years of experience adjusting property insurance claims in a company environment
• Ability to read and interpret property insurance policies and applicable coverages
• As required by regulatory entities, relevant professional designations, and certifications highly desirable. Florida All Lines Adjuster License in good standing is required; and ability to acquire other needed Adjuster License(s) within 3 months of hire
• Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills
• Excellent time management, scheduling and organizational skills
• Previous catastrophic claim handling preferred
• Strong computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Web based programs)
• Experience using Claim Management Systems
• Ability to manage relationships in a fast-paced environment, while demonstrating persistence and problem-solving skills
• Interpersonal and leadership skills - servant leadership, collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation skills
• Emotional intelligence, self-awareness, confidence, ability to manage conflict, empathy
• Ability to read/write/speak English
