About the Job
This position is responsible for managing certain KMT and KDS claims and reports directly to the Hull Claims Manager.
Responsibilities
Intelex
Reviewing events such as grounding, self-damages, loss of steering and auto in Intelex, including KMT and KDS.
All events are doc umented, and claims created.
Adding/Updating boat table maintenance.
Adding pertinent litigiation dates.
Claim Manag ement
Managing auto claims for all organizations including accidents involving rental vehicles.
Reporting the rental car claims to the appropriate underwriters and working with the claims adjuster to resolve.
Managing claims on minor spills, dock radios damages, Coast Guard aids to navigation (ATONS), small dock claims, and small hull claims.
Communicate with Claims Manager and Claims Director.
Proce re doc ss Check Requests for claims.
Communicate with surveyors or third party appointed by Kirby on its behalf.
Secondary backup of appointment of surveyors when Claims Manager is unavailable.
Set up claim reserves up to $25,000.
Ensure captive reserves are established and updated.
On call.
Non-Litigation open claims
Following up on open claims.
Following up with internal departments on status of various types of claims.
Updating Intelex with IT where necessary.
Process invoices.
Reports
Monthly- vessel assignment report, navigational incident report.
Quarterly bordereau reports from P&I and other underwriters.
Monthly captive reports.
Manages invoicing from WC, Auto and GL underwriter and ensures charges are applied to the correct claim and posted.
Monthly Litigation Hold Update.
Projects as Assigned
Miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned by Director of Litigation & Claims or Claims Manager

Education/Experience:
- College Degree
- H.S. / GED
Physical Activities & Requirements:
This position requires frequent sitting for long period of time, occasional walking, standing, stooping, bending, and twisting of the neck, bending, and twisting from the waist, and reaching overhead. This position requires frequent fine manipulation and simple grasping of both right and left hands (e.g. typing, holding telephone receiver, and utilizing writing implements.) This position requires occasional
lifting of no more than 30 lbs. This position requires close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
The work environment is a temperature-controlled office of a moderately quiet sound level. Limited travel may be required. It is expected that all employees follow vessels and production sites safety rules and procedures when working in this environment. In the event of work being performed outside of a temperature-controlled office environment, it is required that appropriate clothing, footwear, and PPE are worn at all times to maintain safety standards.
