POSITION SUMMARY:
- Responsible for the timely administration of cargo loss and damage claims, property damage claims, or other ancillary claims, including but not limited to: investigation into claims, evaluation, and subsequent filing with the motor carrier and facilitating resolution either directly, through motor carrier, or their insurance.
- Compile information required to process claims, including but not limited to determine method of shipment, prepare bills of lading, invoices, and other shipping documents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for maintaining proper files and documentation to support payment of claims.
- Assist in developing and maintaining training programs across MegaCorp Logistics departments on how to protect cargo.
- Work with Claims Manager to create and maintain claims methodology that encompasses Account Managers, carriers, customers, and insurance agencies.
- Contact insured or other involved persons to obtain necessary and/or missing
- Compile information required to process claims and include necessary information in claim files.
- Prepare insurance claim forms and/or related documents, review for accuracy completeness, and include all documents into Hero TMS for loads.
- Review insurance policy to determine coverage, create a notification of claim for carriers, and transmit claims for payment or further investigation.
- Assist in following up with Brokers on overages, shortages and/or damages on a BOL for a load to be released.
- Correspond with customers, carriers, insurance personnel, and inspectors to expedite claims processing and resolution.
- Track claims through use of claims management software; generate reports and analytics to provide to leadership reflecting claim numbers and details.
- Manage individual claim load and touch each claim at least weekly.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- 1-3 years Cargo claims or related training/experience required
- Minimum 6-months related logistics/3PL experience required
