What You Will Be Doing
The Client Development Specialist supports the Regulatory and Government Affairs (RGA) Department, including revenue-generating and general marketing and practice visibility opportunities. The practices within RGA that will be supported include; Strategic Response, Congressional Investigations, Antitrust & Competition, Cybersecurity & Privacy, Defense & National Security, Energy, Environment & Natural Resources, International Trade, and additional cross-selling initiatives. This person assists in strategic planning, preparing and hosting webinars and events from start to finish, and research and analysis in support of Department objectives.
About This Role
- Assists in preparing sophisticated, thoughtful, and persuasive pitches, including RFP responses. Works to coordinate responses, including development of and adherence to timelines, coordination of administrative elements, and review of substantive content for quality assurance and consistency.
- Independently coordinates the full lifecycle of steps related to the planning and implementation of firm events, sponsorships, conferences, webinars, and client entertainment and receptions. Serves as the on-site event contact with client-facing opportunities.
- Works closely with leadership to develop tools and processes that promote follow through with new clients made at events, client meetings and industry conferences to achieve positive outcomes.
- Supports business development and marketing strategies by conducting and/or reviewing in-depth research and analysis of companies, industries, marketplaces and competitors to develop insights and recommendations for attorneys.
- Responsible for developing a strong understanding of the services provided by the RGA Practice and of the clients and industries these groups operate within.
- Provides support to the Digital and Communication teams to promote firm thought leadership, including monitoring, processing and distributing client alerts and blogs.
- Actively participates in the client development department’s cross-functional resources program working with leadership in their various business development and marketing efforts including, events and sponsorships
- Gathers intelligence on legal industry trends to provide attorneys with an understanding of the competitive landscape and to position the firm for increased effectiveness in winning new business.
- Works closely with leadership to support experience database content management through Foundation (content management database), and other types of data collection and reporting.
- Works with leadership on legal directory award submissions and surveys.
- Contributes to the needs of the broader Client Development Department’s initiatives and key projects as needed. Performs special projects as requested by Client Development leadership team.
- Contributes to the firm’sService Excellence initiativeto consistently improveits image internally and externally. Displays professionalism, quality service and a “can do” attitude to internal members/departments of the firm as well as externalclients and vendorsvia electronic and print correspondence, over the telephone and in-person.
Required Skills
Your Qualifications/What You Will Bring
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Experience in a dynamic environment with ability to efficiently manage time and prioritize workload under strict and quickly evolving deadlines.

- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects with various deadlines
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Suite software, InterAction, Vuture and Sharepoint. West Monitor Suite, Hoovers, Lex Machina, EDGAR, PACER, and Lexis/Nexis, a plus.
Required Experience
- Minimum of three-five years of experience in business development and/or marketing.
- Law Firm experience preferred.
Education:
- BA/BS required.
