Summary The position is located at an ambulatory health care center specializing in family health care. Includes Medical, Dental, and Pharmacy services. Work is to implement and support multi-service software packages that automate the capture of clinical encounter information and retrieval and to train staff on software applications. Responsibilities Acquires a comprehensive knowledge of the software involved to over 50 integrated software applications developed and maintained by physicians, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, healthcare administrators, and software programmers. Implements and support of multi-service software packages that automate the capture of clinical encounter information and its subsequent retrieval. Maintains an awareness and comprehensive understanding of all clinical software activities throughout the health care center. Such activities may include, but are not limited to, electronic health information databases (PubMed, Medicine, etc.), tele radiology and telemedicine programs and I-care. Manages the customization of the site parameters and addresses integration issues with other software packages. Analyzes and evaluates processes related to information flow. Serves as liaison between service lines concerning these processes. Determine what procedural issues versus system/application deficiencies. Assists staff in the efficient use of the current software. Coordinates efforts to correct deficiencies and errors that occur in the electronic record. Trains on all services on current software applications, new features and insures training is scheduled for new users. Acts as a resource in the best ways to view the automated data. Coordinates with information technology staff and other application coordinators to implement integrated packages, resolve conflicts, provide secondary support on related software modules, and insure smooth operations in areas where package scope overlaps or is integrated with other services' functions. Works with programmers in local testing of software, identifying software problems and requesting enhancements. Logs all problems, referring those requiring higher level of technical support to the appropriate person or team. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): EDUCATION: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade GS-09, which is the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks such as: work experience in analyzing and evaluating one or more clinical application software including processes related to information flow, serve as a liaison for a specific clinical application software between service lines for particular clinical application software; identify the system deficiencies for improvement on specific clinical software; provides training to others on current software applications. OR Submit a copy of unofficial transcripts to show completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR Demonstrate meeting qualifications for this grade level by indicating on resume and submitting a copy of unofficial transcripts to show a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade GS-11, which is the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: work experience coordinating multi-service software applications used in a hospital setting, customizing software, developing and implementing a standardized integrated health care information system. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. For each of the grade levels, the position will be filled at, to be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Education This position has an education requirement.
