Responsibilities:Position Summary:
As a technical leader in clinical applications, applies advanced professional concepts and extensive industry knowledge to lead and / or work on medium to large projects of broad scope and complexity. The incumbent provides support for all computer and information systems activities of the Pathology Department. Monitors activity and maintains LIS performance and integrity to ensure highest standards of patient care and compliance with all applicable regulations. Incumbent may be required to chair user group and validation committees with technical specialists and physicians across the Health System.

Required Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Recent and in-depth knowledge of LIS function and usage
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must have the ability to organize, coordinate and lead meetings involving groups comprised of technical specialists and providers from many medical specialties and support departments.
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Must be willing to participate in 24 hour on-call rotations as a system duty officer
- In-depth knowledge of operations, systems and functions, including planning, design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation.
- General knowledge and familiarity with theory and practice of laboratory medicine
- Beaker AP/CP Certification
- Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and or equivalent combination of experience/training.
- Ability to organize and coordinate multiple complex tasks and provide good responses to deadline requirements while under pressure to meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to function as a project leader and project member
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- Ability to apply advanced problem-resolution skills to highly complex issues, quickly diagnose problems, develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner
- 5+ years of Beaker experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of University and Medical Center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
- Knowledge of LIS maintenance, including new test builds
- Experience with EMR/LIS HL7, Instruments, Middleware, and Point of care interfaces
- Experience in digital pathology implementation
- Current California Clinical Lab Scientist or Cytotech License
