Position Summary:
Performs duties of a clinical and clerical nature. Maintains records and applies knowledge and skills to run a full functioning office for one or more providers in clinic. Assists professional staff by performing routine duties in caring for patients.
Education, License & Cert:
High School Grad or Equivalent
Experience: Knowledge of medical terminology, ability to communicate and excellent customer service skills a must. Must be dependable, professional, flexible, and able to multi‐task.
Essential Functions:
- Performs liaison duties between patients, Providers, hospital staff, contracted company, etc.
- Maintains equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and clinic policies and procedures. Performs and documents quality control on equipment as required.
- Applies principles of disinfection/sterilization/disease transmission/universal precautions as per clinic and manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintains confidentiality, respect and consideration of patients and others. Applies Guthrie values (patient centeredness, teamwork, excellence) when performing daily tasks.
- Exhibits good telephone etiquette.
- Answers telephones and schedules patient appointments. Takes messages of a medical nature (requests for prescription refills, test results, etc.)
- Quotes patient self‐pay balances at time of scheduling. Informs patients of their financial obligations. Directs patients to the patient representative for assistance with their account
- Assists in maintaining appropriate level of supplies.
- Coordinate patient appointments for X‐ray, CT scans, Physical Therapy, and all other ancillary services as ordered by the provider. Assists with obtaining and processing referral and pre‐certification requirements.
- Become familiar with ICD‐9/10 and CPT coding.
- Must be willing to cross train and perform other assigned duties as needed.
- Attend new employee orientation and all mandatory events such as in‐ services/classes/training as required by the organization.
- Responsible for greeting patients and updating various pertinent information into the patient’s medical record.
- Complies with the dress code policy as set forth by Guthrie.
- Directs patient to examination room and prepares patient for examination and treatment.
- Interviews patient to obtain medical history. Determines vital signs, (weight, temperature, blood pressure, etc) and documents in the patient’s medical record.
- Assists provider during exam and treatment.
- Process ancillary reports and all other patient results to the provider for review and assists with patient communication.
- Routes patient after exam to proper area for visit completion.
- Performs duties such as, phlebotomy, EKG’s, specimen collection, assisting with procedures, etc. Ensures accurate specimen labeling in compliance with clinic protocol.
- Become certified in urine drug collection and breath alcohol testing.
- Become CAOHC (Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation) certified in order to perform audiograms.
- Cleans, stocks, and prepares exam rooms.
Other Duties:
- Travel for this position is sometimes required.
- Participation in community and employee engagement activities is required.

The pay ranges from $16.00-$22.37 per hour
