POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Computer Applications Manager, responsible for integrating the clinical applications into the clinical business processes. This includes project planning, system testing, super user training and application support. Acts as a liaison between IT and physicians/clinical departments in addressing requests for system access, training and system solutions. This includes, but is not limited to awareness of the appropriate use of applications throughout the hospital as well as ensuring the systems provide an effective tool for providing patient care. Prepares documentation for new and existing system processes. Assists with the ongoing training of the physicians and clinical staff. Participates in clinical user groups and identifies processes that could be improved by system enhancements.
1. Provide a mechanism for soliciting ongoing feedback from end users and coordinate that feedback into recommendations for change(s) to the clinical system.
2. Analyze current system needs as well as plan for future design, upgrades and changes to system specifications.
3. Assist in designing training modules along with policies and procedures pertaining to use of clinical information systems.
4. Maintain open communication with information services department staff and vendors. Facilitate communication between end users and technical support.
5. Work with clinical users to understand requirements and work processes that can be improved utilizing clinical information technology.
6. Participate in long range planning strategies for new applications or enhancement of current applications for clinical systems. Analyze results and data to help in planning future change.
7. Assist in ongoing build and maintenance of clinical applications master reference tables
8. Develop and deliver training programs for NNO and ongoing education as necessary.
9. Serve as a champion of the project vision and a resource for management of information systems, while identifying barriers that might hamper project success.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to adequately perform this job. However, any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements.
A. Education: Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
B. License: RN licensed by the State of NC or a compact state.
C. Experience: Minimum 3 years clinical experience is required. In addition, experience working with information system implementations in an acute care setting is preferred.
D. Skills: Knowledge of healthcare software applications and usage. Must be able to implement/support several projects simultaneously. Must be able to effectively communicate with end users, management, technical staff and vendors at the required level of proficiency and detail. Must be adept at problem solving, analytical assessment of information systems and logical thinking.
