POSITION: Clinical Information Systems Analyst
DEPARTMENT: Administration
REPORTS TO: Chief Compliance and Nursing Officer
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Assists in problem analysis and submits recommendations for solutions by analyzing and evaluating existing or proposed clinical information systems; preparing detailed program specifications, charts, diagrams and flowcharts; and coordinates system installation with user department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, development, implementation, maintenance and support of complex clinical information systems to improve patient care and clinical operating efficiencies in compliance with all applicable regulations and organizational policies.
- Plans and conducts User Acceptance Testing including definition of test cases
- Acquiring an understanding of the assigned system application, features, and functions as it is presented to end-users.
- Works in collaboration with all organizational divisions to develop quality clinical systems and fiscally responsible business solutions.
- Serves as a clinical system expert for care sites and methods but through partnership and collaboration supports additional information system teams as well as external vendors as required.
- Develops training content and conducts training sessions
- Leads implementation and launch of Clinical Information Systems to end-users
- Trains and supports Clinical Information Systems Support Specialist in their handling of Clinical Information System user support cases and development of training content

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s in Nursing Science, Information Systems, Computer Science or Applicable Clinical Study, OR Bachelors in a related field with a minimum of five years of clinical or information systems experience. OR Clinical, Operational, or Business experience in a Physician Practice with an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Experience with systems development methodology, preferably in a project leadership role
- Experience with clinical system interfaces
- Familiarity of clinical system security and health record protection policies
- Experience with Epic EMR is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Products, Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio or Lucidchart, and Project or Smartsheet
- Proficient with Epic EMR.
- Proficient in evaluating clinical system processes, workflows and clinical application data elements.
- Ability to continuously improve the capabilities of health care providers through the extensions of applied information technology in a health care setting through strong team-based problem-solving and collaboration skills.
- The ability to orchestrate the successful completion of projects without direct authority over contributing departments or teams.
BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Knowledge of and ability to create and edit documents in Microsoft Word, create/edit PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheets.
- Ability to “figure out” what you need to navigate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Excel), ADP and position-specific software.
- Knowledge of how to send and receive emails, as well as attach documents to an email and open attachments.
- Ability to copy and paste information and use the Web for research.
- Knowledge of basic computer terminology – reboot, hard drive, flash drive, USB port, etc.

The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, carry, push, kneel, bend, climb, balance or squat while performing the essential functions of the job. The employee is required to have close visual acuity; the ability to distinguish color; and the ability to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of assigned work. If the essential function of the position requires a valid driver’s license, the employee is required to have the visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle.
