The CT State Community College is developing a pool of applicants for potential part-time Clinical Instructor-Allied Health Program positions. (Up to 17 hours per week).
These positions are on continuous recruitment, and are filled on an as-needed basis, depending specific department needs. The Clinical Instructor supervises or manages students in the clinical practice experience in one of such allied health fields at a Community College. The incumbent’s work includes teaching students in the clinical setting to include correlating clinical education with didactic education, providing direct clinical instruction, evaluating clinical competence, and maintaining student records.
Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of Program Director, the clinical instructor is accountable for contributing to providing an effective or valuable practicum for assigned students through effective performance in these essential functional areas:
Teach in accordance with approved course description, learning outcomes, and schedule.
- Clinical practicum administration.
- Establishing and maintaining appropriate records for each student.
- Conducting or overseeing clinical competency examinations, monitoring student progress and maintaining comprehensive records on student performance.
- Conferring with and advising students on their clinical performance and progress.
- Clinical instruction.
- Adhere to clinical instruction guidelines consistent with the assigned program’s didactic and clinical instructional content.
- Conduct and oversee clinical demonstrations and lab sessions.
- Maintain the quality of clinical instruction and its conformance to accreditation standards.
- Teach in accordance with approved course description, learning outcomes, and schedule.
This posting includes qualifications, experience and skills but is not limited to the full specifications stated in the job description. Candidate may perform some or all of the job functions.
Incumbents typically perform their work in clinical instruction facilities, classrooms and offices. The work does not, normally, involve any significant physical effort. Incumbents travel to clinical instruction sites such as hospitals and may involve work at multiple clinics. Incumbents need to be able to drive a private passenger automobile for such travel or to arrange for alternative transportation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree requirements required by the professional discipline, certification and/or licensure in the field related to the professional discipline, and one (1) or more years of clinical experience in the related field; OR a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.
- Certification and/or licensure in field may be required.
Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
- Experience in Clinical instruction.
- Experience conducting and overseeing student clinical demonstrations and lab sessions.
Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. Experience with reflective, interactive, culturally responsive pedagogical teaching techniques. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current clinical experience.
- Clinical teaching experience in an academic setting.
Salary:
$105.86 hourly.
