Overview
In cooperation with San Juan School District and The Utah Navajo Health Services (UNHS), Utah State University Blanding, seeks candidates for a full-time, academic-year (9-month), non-tenure track term lecturer position that offers benefits. This position is for skills lab and clinical instructor for the CNA programs at Whitehorse HS and Monument Valley. The lab/clinical instructor will instruct the skills lab portion of a 12-week hybrid course and supervise clinical experiences with supplement instruction, as needed. The program will enroll the maximum number of students as regulated by the state accreditation agency -- Utah Nursing Assistant Registry (UNAR) at each location.
The clinical instructor will support the primary instructor in providing CNA skills lab instruction one day each week at Whitehorse HS and another one day per week at Monument Valley HS.
Minimum 10 hours weekly, including travel time. The UNAR curriculum and model for clinical experience placement will be followed. UNAR accreditation standards will be followed in the hiring of the clinical assistant.
The remainder of the time will be spent as a full-time lab instructor with the USU CNA programs.
Teaching appointment is 95% teaching and 5% service.
Estimated start date is January 2, 2024
Responsibilities
* Cooperates with the Program Coordinator and/or Primary Instructor in scheduling skills lab time and clinical experiences for students.
* Supervises small groups of no more than 12 nursing assistant students who are paired 1:1 with facility CNA's in the clinical setting.
* Administration of each clinical site will dictate the number of students.
* Remains on premises and available to students at all times.
* Has no facility-related responsibilities.
* Actively seeks opportunities for students to perform learned skills.
* Provides guidance and constructive feedback to students.
* Maintains student rolls, including a sign in-and-out sheet with exact time of arrival and departure for both skills lab and clinical site.
* Maintains record of skill development.
* Maintains lab area to UNAR standards.
* May occasionally substitute for the classroom instructor upon notification of UNAR.
* Provides feedback to training program regarding student readiness for clinical experience; identifying potential weakness and areas of strength of training provided prior to clinical.
* Performs other related duties as requested by the Program Coordinator, Primary Instructor, and the Director of the UNAR
* Reports to the Program Coordinator, Primary Instructor and the Director of the Utah Nursing Assistant Registry
Qualifications
