Overview:

Position Summary: The Clinical Laboratory Technician PD is under direct and constant supervision of licensed CLS and MLT, functions as an unlicensed staff member in a licensed clinical laboratory performing duties approved by California business code 1269, CLIA, and other regulatory agencies. Duties and responsibilities include patient preparation, specimen preparation, client service activities, preparation and management of reagents and supplies, and performing procedures and QC functions approved by regulatory agencies. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental issue of the patient population(s) being served. May be asked to take direction from a Lead or Senior level position

Minimum Qualifications: Previous experience in a large laboratory or academic institution preferred.

• Processing experience preferred.
• Experience in medical terminology sufficient to understand and discuss technical aspects of pathology and laboratory medicine.
• Previous experience in clinical microbiology laboratory strongly preferred, but not required if skills show ability to learn material.
• Quick learner, can work independently and in teams.
• Must able to multitask
• Good verbal and written communication skills. 

Education/Licensure/Certifications: High school graduate or equivalent.

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
