NeoGenomics is looking for a Clinical Laboratory Manager for our Molecular Department at our lab in Aliso Viejo, CA who wants to continue to learn in order to allow our company to grow.
Shift time: Tuesday-Saturday, 12:00pm-8:30pm

Position Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Manager has the overall responsibility for the planning, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of all technical and/or operational activities and personnel in the laboratory. The Laboratory Manager is responsible for performing duties to meet quality assurance, safety and accreditation requirements in the laboratory. The Laboratory Manager also oversees a variety of projects that can be assigned by the Director of Laboratory Operations or Medical Laboratory Director.
This is a management position responsible for the operations of the laboratory. It is distinguished from the next higher-level position of Director of Laboratory Operations, which is a senior management classification with broad overall responsibility for multiple divisions. It is distinguished from the next lower classification of Laboratory Supervisor which is a supervisory classification with responsibility for overseeing the daily activities of the laboratory staff on assigned shifts.
Core Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of and in the absence of the Director of Laboratory Operations or Medical Laboratory Director, the Laboratory manager ensures adequate performance of all laboratory operations and procedures
- Initiates and monitors quality assurance programs for the laboratory; assures compliance with regulations
- Reports any problem cases and/or abnormal findings to the Medical Laboratory Director to ensure timely resolution and/or follow up
- Ensures the quality of service provided by the department meets the requirements of both internal and external clients; ensures all internal and external requests are resolved or addressed
- Ensures Federal, State, and corporate standards, policies, and guidelines for the efficient management of the laboratory are being followed
- Oversees, plans, and prepares for inspections in conjunction with the Laboratory Supervisor
- Sets department objectives and performance goals; monitors personnel and resource utilization on an ongoing basis and makes adjustments in staffing to facilitate achievement of the goals and objectives
- Oversees and/or participates in personnel management activities for the department; selects and hires personnel; conducts or guides supervisor in selection interviews, hiring, motivating and training staff
- Ensures that a safe working environment is maintained and that safe work practices are employed
- Maintains advanced knowledge of CAP/CLIA requirements and is knowledgeable with the specialty requirements within those organizations for assigned discipline
- Accountable for the operation of a 24 hour function, including responding to emergencies, and attendance at meetings outside of working hours as needed
Experience, Education and Qualifications:
- Master of Arts or Master of Science Degree from an accredited institution with a major in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences, and subsequent to graduation, has had at least four years of pertinent laboratory experience of which not less than two years have been spent working in a clinical laboratory with the doctoral level.

- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences with the addition of the successful completion of a course of at least 1 year experience/training/training course in assigned specialty. At least 6 years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience subsequent to qualifying with 2 of those years spent working in a clinical laboratory with a director at the doctoral level.
- 8+ years of experience (high complexity testing) preferred in the assigned specialty. (A minimum of two year of internal service in the designated specialty as a Laboratory Supervisor is typically required for promotion to this level)
- 4+ years of direct supervision in a clinical lab
- Certificate Compliance:
- Nationally: ASCP certification for the assigned specialty, as available
- FL: current state supervisor level license to perform laboratory testing
- CA: current state supervisor level license to perform laboratory testing
- TN: current state supervisor level license to perform laboratory testing
