Job description/Responsibilities: PER-DIEM Multiple Shifts APPROXIMATE PAY RANGE: $71.21 - $87.59 Under minimal supervision is responsible for providing leadership nursing by developing programs of care for a given clinical nursing service and through the implementation of the program to improve the quality of care and the competency of the staff. The Clinical Supervisor/Specialist is responsible and accountable for the quality of staff and functions during their shift. Assists the ED, ICU and Cath Lab Managers in the daily operation of the units, directing, supervising and evaluating personnel to ensure the proper use of time, equipment and staff. Ensure the efficient functions of the department. Performs direct patient care, only as needed, within the scope of practice. Continually assess care provided in the ED. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Administration Responsible, in conjunction with the Manager of the ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, and Renal Dialysis to schedule staff for monthly and daily assignments. Properly adjusts and revises employee schedules, to ensure all requirements of staff are assigned fairly among all staff members (weekend coverage, holidays, overtime). Appropriately assigns, delegates, and supervises patient care activities utilizing independent judgment to assess the qualifications and experience/competency of the staff member and individual needs of the patient (acuity) and family. Monitors staff resources to reflect the needs of the department. Has the authority to send staff home for illness, facility need, or performance issues. Has the authority to approve staff overtime to full-fill the needs of the facility and ensure high levels of patient safe care. Notifies Manager as needed. Assumes leadership responsibility, supervises and evaluates co-workers work performance, assists in orienting new personnel, and assures that nursing care is carried out in accordance with departmental standards and physician orders. Demonstrates ability for conflict resolution when resolving issues with employees and/or patients. Participates in interviews effectively and provides recommendation for hire to the Manager for open positions. Maintains communication between base stations, area Prehospital Care Coordinators, area Trauma Center Coordinators, local Pre hospital Care providers and EMS Agency Provide educational program or opportunities to efficiently meet the needs of the department requirement. Performs pediatric quality improvement activities through the development of standards, implementation of policies and procedures and guidelines, evaluation of indicators and reporting of outcomes and trends. Attend monthly meeting of the local PdLn group and disseminates the information to the emergency department manager, physicians and staff. Assists with scheduling and monitoring master schedule for the ICU staff. Monitors time and attendance for licensed and unlicensed personnel. Assist with the orientation of new staff. Performs the primary functions of a professional leader in assessing, planning, directing and evaluating patient care Clinical Demonstrates competence in the care of pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients (when/if assigned to these patients) relative to determining each patient's age-related and other physical, psychosocial and cultural needs and carrying out patient care activities. Professional Behavior Pursues programs of continuing education consistent with the requirements of the California Board of Registered Nurses. Participates in educational conferences and updates and maintains professional knowledge and skills related to the management of areas of responsibility. Other Duties Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Manager.

Required Qualification: *License/Certification -Current California RN License required. -Current BCLS Certification required. -Current ACLS Certification required. *Proof of all required License(s) and/or Certification(s) due at time of hire. **Education BSN preferred. **Proof of all required educational levels due at time of hire. Experience -One year of ICU/CCU, Cardiac Cath Lab, and/or Renal Dialysis department experience required. -One to two years? experience in acute critical care preferred -One year of supervisory experience preferred. Physical Requirements Must utilize conversational speech for effective verbal communication. Noise level is high in some patient care areas. Must be able to hear equipment alarms, overhead pages, and direct verbal communication. Hazards Will have close contact with patients and is likely to come in contact with blood and body fluids. Often exposed to infection. Will be fit tested for particulate respirator. Works with electrical equipment. Occasional exposure to radiation (X-Ray).
