Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR) supports the nation's second largest research program conducted among the VA Hospitals and is looking for a full timeClinical Research Analyst.The Research Analyst position will directly support a busy and high-performing neuromodulation and imaging research program. Tasks will include working both independently and as part of a team on clinical data analysis and data management, with variation depending on current needs. In addition, the Data Analyst will assist and work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) in her scientific writing, project submission, and national research dissemination work.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform statistical analyses of large datasets (mostly neuroimaging data but including VA electronic health records) for health outcomes and health services research questions;
- Identify, validate, and resolve database and analysis issues;
- Propose and perform appropriate statistical analysis methods to answer clinical and research questions;
- Evaluate and interpret collected clinical data;
- Manage the database for internal and external audits and prepare summary reports;
- Create tables/figures and written presentation of data information;
- Assist in maintenance of supporting documentation for projects including bibliographies;
- Conduct internet research to support scientific publications;
- Draft sections of proposals, publications, and presentations;
- Assist in neuroimaging and neurostimulation data collection
- Advise on scientific budget;
- Perform other research duties as needed;
- Leads and coordinates projects, and/or activities; recommends improvements or modifications;
- Assists principal investigator in providing mentorship, technical assistance, and training to research staff, resident fellows and others;
- Other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required:Knowledge of statistics used in neuroimaging (i.e. functional MRI), Ph.D. degree in engineering;
- 10+ years of related data analysis and applying advanced statistical methods to neuroimaging;
- Specialized expertise in neuroimaging analyses both functional and structural imaging and neurostimulation;
- Neuroimaging as applied to neurostimulation (e.g. functional connectivity based TMS targeting); Knowledge of Brainsight image-guidance;
- Prior experience with statistical analysis of VA data, specifically, ability to analyze DART requests to identify potential participants.
- Preferred:ability to use one or more statistical packages and programming languages: SAS, R, SQL, STATA, Python, MATLAB and SPSS;
- Prior experience working with other non-VA large datasets;
- Prior experience designing and performing statistical analyses for health outcomes and/or health services research;
- Strong publication record in peer reviewed journals.
